Lawrence S. Fritchman, 62, of Forks Twp., passed away Saturday, December 15, 2012 in VNA of St. Luke's Hospice House. Born: June 6, 1950, in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was a son of the late Sherwood and Vivian Snyder Fritchman. Personal: He and his wife, Mary Weidaw Fritchman-Grube, celebrated their 6th wedding anniversary. Larry was a supervisor for Essroc Cement. He graduated from Easton High School Class of 1968 and served with the Pennsylvania National Guard. Larry was an avid airplane enthusiast. He enjoyed traveling to see old military sites and racetracks and visiting national parks. Memberships: He was a member of Arndt's Lutheran Church. Larry was also a member of the Easton Corvette Club. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by a son, Scott Fritchman of Emmaus; a daughter, Jennifer Kukel of Ocean City, MD; two step-sons, Edward Grube of Stewartsville, NJ and Richard Urello of Henderson, NV; a step-daughter, Nicole Benson of Swampscott, MA; a sister, Gloria Miller of Little Gap, PA; and twelve grandchildren. Services: A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Arndt's Lutheran Church, 1851 Arndt Road, Forks Twp. Call Wednesday 2 to 3 p.m. in the church. Gafford, Roger J. 54, of Shelby, passed away Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004 at the Oceana County Medical Care Facility in Hart following a long illness. He was born April 26, 1950 in Shelby, the son of Wayne and Marie (Bates) Gafford. He lived in Shelby most of his life with the exception of a short time in Hart. Roger's employment always involved mechanics or trucking. He was employed at Adams Trucking for many years. Later, he worked as a maintenance foreman for the Oceana County Road Commission. He also drove a semi-truck and was a fruit grower for some time. Roger is survived by his children, Ronald Ellis (Brenda) Gafford of New Era, Erika Lynn Mitchell of New Era, and Roger Wayne (Summerlynn) Gafford of Ludington; his parents, Wayne and Marie Gafford of Shelby; his sister, Sandra (Larry) Darling of Shelby; and seven grandchildren. The funeral service for Roger was Saturday, Dec. 18, 2 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Earnest Cummings officiating. Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shelby.

Gary Frederick Finken, 59, of Spring Lake, NJ, died Monday January 12, 2009 at his home. Born and raised in Easton, he lived in Union before moving to Spring Lake permanently in 2003. Personal: Mr. Finken was a Director at Horizon Blue Cross / Blue Shield in Newark. He also participated on the NJBCBS Corporate Running Team in Newark. He was past president and a board member of the Union Boys and Girls Club, involved with the Union Little League and Teener League Baseball Programs and the Union Cub Scouts. He received a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, Pa., and was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon social fraternity at the university. He also was a certified swim official with the Westfield YMCA and the Mindowaskin Swim Club. Survivors: His loving wife Ree Bush Finken; two sons, Jeffrey of Philadelphia, and Douglas of Spring Lake; his parents Fred and Gretchen Finken of Easton; and sisters, Sally Newhartz of Bethlehem and Susan Kutzler of Easton. Services: A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday in the O'Brien Funeral Home 2028 Hwy 35, Wall, NJ. Gary Robert Rute, 61, of Bethlehem Twp. passed away Saturday April 2, 2011 in his home. He was born on May 10, 1949 in Easton a son of Mary Jane Snyder of Easton and the late Charles Robert Rute. Gary was employed as a DUI Coordinator for Northampton County for 11 years until his retirement in January of 2011. He was a graduate of Easton High School class of 1967 and Duke University class of 1971. Gary played football for Easton High School and continued his football career at Duke University. Survivors: Gary is survived by his wife, Dorothy Dottie Pettit-Rute; sons, Robert Rute, Eric and wife Christie Rute, Gary Jr. and wife Jill Rute, James Pettit; sisters, Valerie and husband Tom McCracken, Marla and husband Darren Wendling; brothers, Robert and wife Diane Rute, Chuck and wife Diane Rute; and grandchildren, Andrea, Makenzie, Chloe and Hailey. A son, Jason Rute preceded Gary in death. Timothy B. HANEY, 33, of 1710 Carlisle Road, Lower Allen Township, Camp Hill, formerly of Easton, died Sunday in an accident on Interstate 81 in Lower Paxton Township. State police at Harrisburg said Haney was killed around 4:45 p.m. when a tractor trailer jackknifed and slid across a medial strip, striking his car. Haney was the husband of Patty (Briggs) Haney. He was an assistant U.S. attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice in Harrisburg. Born in Easton, he was a son of Kathryn Haney of Easton and the late Paul Haney. A 1972 graduate of Easton Area High School, he received his bachelor of arts degree from Pennsylvania State University in 1976 and a juris doctor degree from Suffolk University Law School in Boston in 1979. Haney served in the Navy and Naval Reserves. Survivors: Wife and mother; sons, Michael B. and Peter B., both at home, and a brother Thomas of Yorktown, N.Y.

Barry Duane Hartzell, of Palmer Twp., passed away at the age of 63, in Easton Hospital.

Born in Easton, he was a son of Duane and Nancy (Waltz) Hartzell of Wilson Borough.

He and his wife, the former Cynthia Hyndshaw celebrated their 45th anniversary on February 24, 2014.
He has been employed by the USDA as a safety inspector for the past 30 plus years.

A 1968 graduate of Easton High School, he loved hunting, boating, fishing and the Brookwood Lodge.

Barry is survived by his parents; his wife; son Brad of Palmer Twp.; brothers, Dennis and Daniel of Palmer Twp.; sister, Gloria Hagenbuch of Williams Twp. and 2 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Barry T.

Dennis L. Haschak, 52, of Easton passed away Tuesday August 31, 2004 in his home. Born August 7, 1952, in Wilson Boro, PA, he was a son of Evelyn Pauline Winger Haschak of Easton and the late Steve Haschak. He served in the United States Army from 1972 until his retirement in 1994 as a Staff Sergeant with service during the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of Easton Area High School. He was a member of the Seventh Ward Democratic Club, Order of the Fleas, Citizen Hose Co., and Concordia Maennerchor in Easton, Lister Pfeffer American Legion Post 611, Palmer Volunteer Fire Co. #2, and Avona Volunteer Fire Co. of Wilson Borough. Survived is a son, Satch T. Haschak of Easton, a sister Doreen Schmitt of Easton. Two brothers, Steven and Ronald Haschak preceded him in death. Frederick W. HAY, 60, of Upper Nazareth Township, died Friday, January 9, 2015 in St. Luke's Hospital. Born September 6, 1954 in Easton, he was a son of the late Dr. Horace L. Hay, Jr. and Jean (Halbing) Hay. He and his wife, the former Cindy Krummel were married 28 years. Fred was a Professional Engineer and partner in Keystone Consulting Engineers, Bethlehem and was the Township Engineer for Hanover Township, Lehigh County. He was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Easton Area High School in 1972. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War and received his BS degree from Lafayette College. Surviving in addition to his wife, Cindy, are two brothers, James F. Hay of Palmer Township and David M. Hay of Bethlehem. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, January 12 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Interment will be private. Patricia A. Heilman, 63, of Palmer Township, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018, at her home. Born Sept. 11, 1954, in Easton, PA, she was a daughter of Joan E. (Williams) Heilman, of Nazareth, and the late Robert E. Heilman Sr. She was a 1972 graduate of Easton Area High School where she played field hockey, basketball, and softball earning 11 varsity letters. She received a B.A. from East Stroudsburg University where she established the Anne T. Scrak Memorial Scholarship Fund in 1985. Patricia was currently a realtor at Berkshire Hathaway and a bus driver for the Easton Area School District. Previously, she worked at Pocono Foods for many years and Weichert Realtors. She coached softball and basketball for the Palmer Township Athletic Association. Patricia was the president of the Wednesday Nights Women's Bowling League at the former Colonial Lanes, Stroudsburg. She was one of the founding members of the Palmer Township Adult Recreation League. Patricia coached field hockey for Notre Dame High School, East Stroudsburg. Surviving in addition to her mother, Joan, are two brothers, Robert E. Heilman, Jr. and his wife, Deanna, of Mt. Bethel, and James E. Heilman and his wife, Jill, of Easton; a sister, Kathy Zick and her husband, Robert, of Allentown; nieces and nephews, Jennifer and her husband, Kyle, Ashley-Anne, Scott, Shawn, Kevin, Audra, Lyndsi and her husband, Evan, and Brooke and her husband, Ryan, and great-nieces and great-nephews, Cory, Dylan, Kayla, twins Tyler and Elyott, Carter, Morgan, Brady, Sadie, Camy, Emma, Mason, and Raychel. Keith E. Henthorn, age 65, of Dansville passed away on Sunday August 4, 2019 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester surrounded by his family. He was born in Easton, Pennsylvania on March 18, 1954 a son to the Patricia A. Hart. Keith worked for the Huntington Developmental Center in Clifton, New Jersey where he retired from them in 2011. He loved anything trains. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Veronica Shanley-Henthorn whom he married on July 23, 2015, 2 daughters: Cynthia (Charles) Lehmann of PA., Mary Jo (Michael) Henthorn-Thompson of PA., 3 step-daughters: Kristen VanChuck of PA., Jamie (Darwin) Shanley-Swanke of Wayland, Jean Prashaw of Dansville, his 2 boys: Christopher Shanley Jr. of Dansville, Frank Shanley of Dansville, 3 step- sons: Roger Coates Jr.of Greece, Douglas (Kathleen) Shanley Jr. of Wayland, Christopher (Amanda) Shanley Sr. of Mt. Morris, former son-in-law: Jody Prashaw of Wayland, along with many grandchildren, brother and sister-in-laws and cousins. Along with his mother he is preceded in death by a step-son Jesse J. Personal: Bonnie was last employed as a dispatcher for Easton Taxi, Inc., where she worked for 25 years. She was a 1968 graduate of Easton Area High School and a graduate of Empire Beauty School. Bonnie enjoyed bingo and crocheting. Survivors: three brothers, John Hochwarter of Palmer Township, Larry Miller of Easton and David Miller; a sister, Laura Martin of Palmer Township; nieces and nephews. He was a member of Sigma Pi Sigma, an honorary science fraternity and listed in Whos Who in Americas Colleges/Universities. Survivors: His wife of 37 years, the former Karen Johnson; sister-in-law Laurie Johnson; brother-in-law Jay Johnson; father-in-law Carl Johnson all of Bethlehem; nephews and niece Jason, Jared and Kiira Johnson; and beloved dog Kirby. Ralph Eric Hoffman passed the mortal world February 27, 2016 at home peacefully with family after a five-year battle with cancer. Ralph was born September 12, 1954 in Patterson, New Jersey. He is preceded in passing by his Father, Albert George, and his Mother, Anna Lorraine. Ralph is survived by his Brother Lew, South Fork, Colorado, Brother Mark (Melissa) and nephew Clyde, Everett, Washington. While alive, he lived. As a youth in New Jersey and Pennsylvania farm country, Ralph was in football, wrestling and skiing. A gregarious, social soul, Ralph was nicknamed "The Doister" and always had many dear friends and colleagues. He attended Weber State College and graduated from the University of Utah, where he raced on college ski teams. He was an investment broker and vice president at Morgan Stanley in Colorado Springs before his medical retirement in 2013. Ralph enjoyed golf, skiing (including a few 14'rs) and river rafting. Last fall he enjoyed scuba diving trips to Honduras with his cousin Bill and brother Mark and a grand tour of Italy with brother Lew (Including 3 days of self-guided walking tours of Rome). Michael J. Hoy After a long struggle with ALS, Michael J. Hoy joined the Lord on Feb. 2, 2018. Michael was born to Donald and Patricia (Martin) Hoy in Easton, PA, on April 29, 1953. He married Christine (Lilly) Hoy in Phillips-burg, NJ, in 1991. Together they welcomed two children, Sean Michael and Mackenzie Patricia. Michael was employed with Columbia Gas for 30 years prior to his retirement in 2009, after which he worked for other natural gas companies in the pipeline industry. He was an active member of the community, where he coached tee-ball, midget football, and softball. He was a welcoming smile at Foursquare Church every Sunday morning. Michael and Christine opened their home to two foster children, who lived with them for months. He touched many lives over his 64 years. Michael's mother, Patricia Martin Hoy, preceded him in death. He is survived by his father, Donald Hoy; his sisters, Anna Marie Falco, Gayle Golden, Sandra Merola, and Patsy Yeakle; his brother, James Hoy; his wife, Christine Lilly Hoy; his son, Sean Hoy; his daughter, Mackenzie Hoy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service for Michael will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at Foursquare Church, 328 West Middle St., Gettysburg, PA, with Pastor Mark Chester officiating. Carol Causa (the former Carol Hughes of Easton, PA), 70, passed away at her home in Ashburn, VA, surrounded by family on August 26, 2020.
Born July 1950, Carol was the daughter of the late W. Stewart Hughes Jr. and Jeanne Frances Scott Hughes. She graduated from Easton Area High School in 1968.
Carol found happiness in volunteering with abused and neglected toddlers and infants at Saint Ann's Center for Children, Youth & Families; she also worked with the Loudoun Abused Women's Shelter. She loved her family most of all, and enjoyed trips and activities with her grandsons, Niall and Jack. Carol was an admirer of fine art, music, and nature.
She is survived by her children, J. Timothy Causa (Izzy) and Jill Causa, both of Reston, VA, and Lori Causa Snyman (Phillip) of Williamsburg, NY; grandchildren, Niall Dickens and Jack Causa; brother, Scott Hughes (Kimberly) of Loganville, GA; and nieces and nephews, Brandon Hughes, Whitney Hughes, Andrea Hughes, and Carly Hughes. Along with her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her brother, William "Bill" Hughes.

Bruce E. Hutchison, 55, of Bethlehem, died on September 18, 2005 in Albert Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia. The husband of Lizabeth Liz (Najarian) Hutchison, they were married for 25 years in July. Born on September 1, 1950 in Easton, he was a son of the late Reaser and Marion (Cyphers) Hutchison. He was the former principal of South Mountain Middle School, serving in that position for 18 years. He was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Bethlehem. He graduated from Kutztown University and received his advanced degrees at Lehigh University. He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa. He was an adjunct professor at Wilkes College. He was a volunteer for the Childrens Literacy Center, south Bethlehem. He was a member of the Northampton Historical Society. He was a member of the Order of AHEPA, Homer Chapter 65. Survivors: Wife, Lizabeth; daughters, Meredith A. and Stacy E., both at home; sister, Barbara, wife of Dr. David Smith, of Lincoln, Nebraska; nieces, nephews. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, September 22, 2005 in the church, 1607 West Union Blvd., Bethlehem. Viewing from 6:30-9 p.m. on Wednesday in the John F. Herron Funeral Home, 458 Center at Market Street, Bethlehem and from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday in the church. Trisagion, 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Interment in Nisky Hill Cemetery, Bethlehem. Contributions:Allentown School District-South Mountain Middle School, 31 South Penn Street, Allentown 18105.
