About	December 16, 2004 obit on December 23, 2004 Oceanas Herald Journal Gafford, Roger J. 54, of Shelby, passed away Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004 at the Oceana County Medical Care Facility in Hart following a long illness. He was born April 26, 1950 in Shelby, the son of Wayne and Marie (Bates) Gafford. He lived in Shelby most of his life with the exception of a short time in Hart. Roger's employment always involved mechanics or trucking. He was employed at Adams Trucking for many years. Later, he worked as a maintenance foreman for the Oceana County Road Commission. He also drove a semi-truck and was a fruit grower for some time. Roger is survived by his children, Ronald Ellis (Brenda) Gafford of New Era, Erika Lynn Mitchell of New Era, and Roger Wayne (Summerlynn) Gafford of Ludington; his parents, Wayne and Marie Gafford of Shelby; his sister, Sandra (Larry) Darling of Shelby; and seven grandchildren. The funeral service for Roger was Saturday, Dec. 18, 2 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Earnest Cummings officiating. Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shelby.
