BLAKE, Bruce Harold, 71, born September 4, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Harold and Ellen Blake, passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at the UK Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Bruce was the beloved husband of Joyce Flege Blake, father of Brian David Blake, Jeremy Wood and Stephen Wood, grandfather of Jameson Blake, brother of Marilyn Jacobcik, and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Prior to his retirement, Bruce was a successful business entrepreneur having founded Lexington Safety Products. Memorial services will be held 11 am-Noon on Monday, September 10, at the Kerr Brothers Funeral Home located on Harrodsburg Road. Visitation will take place from 10-11 am Monday. A graveside service and burial will take place at the Williamstown Cemetery in Williamstown, Kentucky at 1:30 pm.

Carol Schaefer, 63, of Euclid Avenue, Bellevue, passed away Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, in her home.
She was born May 8, 1944, in Massillon, Ohio, and was the daughter of the now deceased Harold Blake and surviving Ellen (Musser) Blake. She married David A. Schaefer on June 17, 1967, in Immaculate Conception Church, Bellevue. She was employed as a floral arranger at the former Wireman's Florist and as a receptionist for Myers and Nicely Dentistry.
Carol was a 1962 graduate of Black River High School, Spencer, Ohio, where she grew up. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, president of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and Preceptor Chapter Beta Lambda. She enjoyed gardening, floral arranging, craft shows, shopping and rooting for her children and grandchildren at their sporting events.
She is survived by her husband, David A. Schaefer of Bellevue; her mother, Ellen (Musser) Blake of Elyria; son, Matt of Bellevue; daughter, Kristen (Ben) Stoll of North Fairfield; grandchildren, Justin, McKenzie, Bella, Logan Luke, Jordan and Austin; brother, Bruce Blake of Lexington, Ky.; and sister, Marilyn Jacobcik of Avon.
Her father, Harold Blake, precedes her in death.
Friends will be welcomed from 2-8 p.m. Sunday in Foos and Son Funeral Home, 311 W. Main St.; Bellevue, with a rosary service at 4 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday in Immaculate Conception Church, 231 E. Center St., Bellevue, with the Rev. Keith Stripe officiating. Burial will follow at York Chapel Cemetery.

Irene F. Schidlowski, 67, of Spencer, passed away Wed., Jan. 20, 2010 at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland. She was born in Detroit, Mich. on March 20, l942 to Thomas A. and Harriette L. BeLonge Baker and had resided in Spencer for 32 years.
She is survived by daughters, Rebecca (Eric) Lovelady, Laura (Mark) Behrend, and Theresa Schidlowski; seven grandchildren; foru great grandchildren and sisters, Rita (Gene) Thomas and Ruth (Jerry) Borling.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband James; son, William and brother,Dwight Baker.
Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010 from 50 to 8 PM> at the Parker & Son Funeral Home, 202 East Main St., Spencer. Funeral services will be Mon., Jan. 25, 2010 at 11 A.M. at the funeral home. Reverend Steve Carmany of Huntington will officiate. Burial will follow at Sullivan Southview Cemetery.

Nicholas J. “Nick” Billy, 62, of Homerville, passed away Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at Lodi Community Hospital.

He was born Nov. 9, 1946, in Cincinnati to John and Mildred Smerk Billy and resided in the Spencer and Homerville areas. He graduated from Brunswick High School in 1965 and entered the Air Force in May 1966. Mr. Billy worked as a plumber and at the Akron General Health & Wellness Center in Montrose for the past 12 years. He also was a Spencer auxiliary police officer. He was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians. He was an avid hunter and golfer.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Karen; children, Nicholas M. Billy of Spencer and Amy (Mike) Hardin of Akron; eight grandchildren; and many other family members and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Nancy Billy.

Service: 11 a.m. Monday at Parker & Son Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi. Father Ron Bryda will officiate.

Burial: Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.

Visiting hours: 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Paul E. Smith, 42, of Ashland died Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, following a lengthy
illness. Born April 21, 1967, to Jacky and
Phyllis (née Kirk) Smith, Paul was a lifelong resident of the Sullivan and Ashland area. He was a 1986 graduate of Black River High School and went on to serve his country during Desert
Storm. Paul worked as a sales representative for Advanced Auto Parts, and, in his free time, enjoyed playing video games with his son. Paul is survived by his son, Zachary May; fiancée, Carrie May; and his father, Jacky Smith, all of Ashland; a brother, Kenneth Smith of California; and a sister, Mary (Jeff) Shelton of Wellington. Paul was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis. Friends and family will be received 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday,
Dec. 2, 2009, at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington. In lieu

Shane Yates, age 40, of Columbus, died Sunday, February 21, 2016. Shane was a 1993 graduate of Black River High School, and a 1997 Graduate of Ashland University; and currently serving as the Executive Director and President of American Societies Alliance. He was the former Executive Director of the Ohio Physical Therapy Association. He was Certified in Non-Profit Executive Leadership from Indiana University School of Public & Environmental Affairs, and was a Certified Meeting Planner. In 2014, Shane was recognized by the Association Forum of Chicagoland USAE Weekly Newspaper and Connect Magazines as one of the Industry’s top young professionals nationwide in their under 40 issue. Shane was a member of Phi Kappa Si Fraternity, and served as a Chapter Advisor of Capital University Chapter of Phi Kappa Si Fraternity. Shane is survived by his mother, Beatris Yates; sister, Edwina Smith both of Columbus; nieces, brother, Scott Yates, Hope (Tyler) Reynolds, and Brennan Smith of Loudonville; nephews, Brady Matthew Smith of Loudonville, Justin Yates and Jeffrey Yates; great nephews, Trysten and Trevor Reynolds of Loudonville; and great nephew, Spencer Smith of Loudonville. Shane was predeceased by his brother, Larry Dean Yates.The family will welcome friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 26, 2016 at the RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High Street, Worthington, Ohio 43085 . Stephanie L. Hartley (nee Church) 42 of Grafton passed away Sunday December 27, 2015 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain following a brief illness. She was born December 26 , 1973 in Wooster. Stephanie worked as an LPN at Mercy Allen Hospital in Oberlin for 13 years. She enjoyed watching NASCAR and vacationing at the beach. Survivors include her husband Bruce , daughters Mindy and Madison and son Alex, numerous Aunts , Uncles and Cousins. Family would like to give thanks to Angie , Bonnie , Angel , Susie , Hazel and Sandy , and special thanks to the entire staff of Mercy Allen Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents Larry and Sandra (nee Bigley) , sister Tiffanie Church. PENN SGT. THOMAS E. PENN, 43, of Atwater, entered into eternal rest on Friday, Aug. 27, 2010. He was born Jan. 4, 1967, in Ravenna. Tom worked for the past nine years with the 371st Minimum Care Detachment Unit, U.S. Army Reserve Base in Twinsburg, where he earned the rank of Sergeant. Prior to his military career, Sgt. Penn worked at the Press of Ohio in Brimfield. He enjoyed family activities, movies, race cars, computers, and model planes and cars. Tom is survived by his beloved wife of ten years Dawn (Pipoly) Penn and devoted daughter Nicole. He was also the loving son of Sid and the late Roberta (Kolk) Penn; dear brother of Bryan (Rachell) Penn and is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. Cremation has taken place, and friends will be received SUNDAY, SEPT. 5, 2010 FROM 2-4 AND 6-8 P.M. AT THE WOOD-KORTRIGHT-BORKOSKI FUNERAL HOME, 703 E. MAIN ST., RAVENNA. Clifford F. "Cliff" Kovacic, 48, and William "Billy" Kovacic, 26, both of Spencer, died Sunday, July 29, 2001, in Medina.

Combined services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Lafayette Church, 6201 Lafayette Road, Medina, with the Rev. Nicholas Gobora officiating.

Friends may call Monday from 1-9 p.m. at the church.

Arrangements are being handled by Waite & Son Funeral Home in Medina.

The family suggests contributions be made to the Medina County Fair Victims Fund, in care of Western Reserve Bank, 4015 Medina Road, Medina 44256.

Cliff Kovacic was born March 19, 1953, in Berea.

He was the beloved husband of Jane (Bellville) Kovacic, to whom he was married 27 years; loving father of Elizabeth, Charles and the late William "Billy"; dearest son of Betty (Davis) Kovacic and the late William Kovacic; dear brother of Charles; cousin of Bud Kovacic; devoted son-in-law of Albert and Jean Palmer; and brother-in-law to Patricia Lambert, Albert Palmer, Megan Huey, Debra Smith, Pamala Palmer, Shawnee "Jo" Williams and the late Rhonda Berberich.

William "Billy" Kovacic was born Aug. 13, 1974, in Wooster.

He was the beloved son of Jane (Bellville) Kovacic and the late Clifford Kovacic; loving brother of Elizabeth and Charles; dear grandson of Albert and Jean Palmer and Betty (Davis) Kovacic and the late William Kovacic; cousin of Bud Kovacic; dearest nephew of Patricia Lambert, Albert Palmer, Megan Huey, Debra Smith, Pamala Palmer, Shawnee "Jo" Williams and the late Rhonda Berberich.
