About	Cynthia Joanne “Cindy” Sumpter, 62 of Spencer, Ohio passed away at her home on Sunday, April 24, 2022, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was born July 23, 1959 in Oberlin, Ohio to Willard and Barbara (Kiser) Smith. Cindy graduated from Black River High School and spent most of her life in Spencer. Cindy was the well-loved wife of Rob Sumpter of 34 years; she is also survived by her children Don (Lisa) Chapman, and Kristi (John) Phillips; grandchildren Cadin (Larissa), Owen, Coltan, Madison, and Mallory; mother, Barbara Smith; sister Diane (Gary) Hatch, brother Gerry (Cherie) Smith; as well as her nieces, nephews, and friends. Cindy loved spending time with her family, attending her grandkids sporting events, running the family business “The Hungry Bear Restaurant” with her sister, riding her side by side with Rob, and playing cards with her friends. She was preceded in death by her father Willard Smith, daughter Michelle Chapman, granddaughters Adalyn and Rylee, and mother-in-law Roberta Sumpter.
