Allen Russell Hansen, 57, Sarona, died Friday, August 21, 2009 at Spooner Health System. He was born February 24, 1952 in Rice Lake to Raymond E. and Frances (Jilek) Hansen. Al graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1970. He worked for Northwest Builders in Rice Lake from 1972-1975 and started Hansen Concrete in 1978. Allen married Marlene Saffert on August 4, 1973 in Rice Lake. He enjoyed elk hunting in Colorado, hunting and fishing in Canada and turkey hunting in South Dakota. He was said to enjoy “a little work and a lot of play”. He is survived by his wife, Marlene, Sarona, daughter Krista (Karl) Okonek, Minot, N.D., brother Ronald Hansen, (Carol Kunz), Osceola and sisters Caroline Williams, St. Paul, MN and Donna (Allan) Cusick, Spooner. Funeral services were held August 24 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Shell Lake with Father Ed Anderson officiating. Pallbearers were John Marshall, Ryan Furchtenicht, Willy Lombard, Rick Gronning, Scott Hansen, Steve Hansen, Mark West and Bob Dahle. The Skinner Funeral Home, Shell Lake, WI was entrusted with arrangements.

Barbara L. Lester, 51, of Rice Lake died April 18, 2003 at her home. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rice Lake with the Rev. Kevin Gordon officiating. Burial was in Nora Cemetery. Mrs. Lester was born February 12, 1952 to Raleigh and Eileen (Drake) Brogan in Rice Lake where she grew up and graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1970. Barbara Lester worked at Birchwood Manufacturing and was a nurses’ aide at Rice Lake Convalescent Center. With her developing health problems, she decided to leave her job and care for her parents. On June 20, 1998 she married Edward Lester and became a homemaker. She was a former member of the Women of the Moose and enjoyed listening to music and doing arts and crafts. Barbara was a kind and caring person who really enjoyed people. She is survived by her husband, Edward, and two brothers, William of Rice Lake and Brad of Cameron.

William G. Hanek, 44, of Robinson, Indiana, died on Sunday, September 8, 1996, in Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He was born July 18, 1952 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin to Dr. George Hanek and Lily N. Larsen Hanek. Survivors include his wife, Trilby Smith Hanek; his mother; one son, Jack A. Hanek; one brother, Dr. Robert Hanek; one niece and one nephew. There are no services or visitation. Cremation is scheduled. Mattox Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.

Bruce Arnold Havel "The Deerfield Coyote" passed away unexpectedly at the age of 67 on Friday October 18th, 2019.
Bruce was born to Melvin Joseph "Bud" and June Marie Havel on September 17, 1952 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. Bruce met the love of his life Terri Lynn Langmann on October 25th, 1971 and married later on April 15, 1972. Bruce and Terri then moved to the Deerfield area where Bruce worked at Cenex repairing tires for 10 years. He then started working for Larsons as a truck driver delivering storm doors for 24 years. Bruce at a youthful age began to follow in his father's footsteps in pursuing his love for racing in a number of different ways including being an avid NASCAR fan, from watering the track at Angel Park Speedway to racing late models at various local tracks. The Deerfield Coyote found his calling, racing the back up class at Columbus 151 Speedway where he was the seven time track champion in the division and became internationally known. His passion for racing was exemplified at Oktoberfest Race weekend at Lacrosse Speedway where he earned the award for 20 years of best campsite where his hospitality was served out of a chicken bucket. Bruce was an avid sports enthusiast; he loved all Wisconsin sports teams from High school to professional. He loved bowling, and playing horseshoes, softball, and baseball. Bruce also enjoyed the outdoors by fishing, hunting and camping. His highlight of being outdoors was camping for over fifteen years at In the Pines campground in Wisconsin Dells. His love for his animals was only surpassed by his love for his family, living every moment for his grandkids attending every activity all of them participated in. Bruce always greeted you with a smile and a helping hand. He always lived life to the fullest. He will be dearly missed by many.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 47 years, Terri (Langmann) Havel. His daughter Martha Aeschlimann-Rogers (Jim). His grandchildren Courtney Aeschlimann (Spencer), Tyler Aeschlimann (Caille), Grant Rogers and Kelsey Rogers. His siblings; Lavonne Stoik- Jacobsen (Jake), David Havel (Vikki), Larry Havel (Ann) and former sister-in-law Gwen Havel. Followed by many nieces, nephews, beloved pets and friends. Bruce is preceded in death by; his parents, Melvin "Bud" Havel and June Lynn Paradise Havel and his niece Dawn Stoik.

A funeral will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday November 2, 2019 at St. Paul Liberty Lutheran Church, 3494 Oak Park Road, Deerfield. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM on Saturday until the service at the church.
A Celebration of Life will be following the service at Doubled Days 4586 Baxter Rd, in Cottage Grove, WI, 53527. Please come in your favorite racing or sports team apparel.

Bryan H. Hyllested, age 65, of Rice Lake, WI died Thursday, July 27, 2017 at his home. He was born on December 24, 1951 in Rice Lake, WI to Donald and Doris (Olson) Hyllested. Bryan graduated from Rice Lake High School and worked as a self-employed electrician. He was married to Julie Anderson on July 6, 1985 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake. Bryan enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with his family at Interstate Park on the St. Croix River. Bryan especially enjoyed competing as a member of the Indianhead Pistol League. Bryan Hyllested is survived by his wife, Julie Hyllested of Rice Lake, WI; his children, Jake Hyllested of Rice Lake, WI and Emily (Brian) Nordquist of Baldwin, WI; his brothers, Blane (Michelle) Hyllested and Brent Hyllested of Rice Lake, WI; and several cousins, nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Doris Hyllested. Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 PM Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI, with Rev. Grant Aaseng officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4 - 6 PM Wed.

Chuck (Charles) Krause, Age 67, of Rice Lake, WI died Saturday, August 3, 2019 at the Marshfield Medical Center Rice Lake.
He was born on January 22, 1952 in Rice Lake to Robert and Lois (Pitman) Krause. Chuck graduated from the Rice Lake High School in 1970 and then attended WITC. He was married to Mahala Shudlick on September 24, 1971 in Barron and then entered the United States Air Force where he was a B52 mechanic and served for 8 years and was Honorably Discharged. Chuck worked for Birchwood Manufacturing and also worked for Johnson Truck Bodies as a mechanic and in the sales department for parts.
He loved to fish, hunt, wood work, garden - especially planting squash and sunflowers, making bird houses, electrified wood, making crafts, painting and being with his dogs. Chuck also taught his grandsons how to fish.
He is survived by his wife, Mahala ?(Hala?) Krause of Rice Lake; a son and daughter-in-law, Uriah and Penny Krause of Eau Claire, WI; 2 grandchildren, Conner and Kienen Krause; 2 sisters, Carol Cipra of Rice Lake and Renee Krause (Tim Stach) of Rice Lake; an adopted grandson, Cayden Williams and his parents, Gary and Renee Williams of Dubuque, Iowa; many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lois Krause; a brother, Ronald Krause; a brother-in-law, Robert Cipra.
Private family graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the Nora Cemetery in Rice Lake with Jon Tillung officiating, where Military Rites will be accorded him by the Rice Lake Veteran Honor Guard.
A public celebration of his life will be held from Noon-2PM Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the Rice Lake Moose Lodge. Appleyard?s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Cheryl Lynn Stimers, 18, of Rice Lake died in a traffic accident in Barron County on October 24, 1970 following a two car collision on the golf course road shortly before 9 a.m. Miss Stimers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Stimers, was a passenger in the car. Miss Stimers was born in Rice Lake on September 24, 1952 and was a graduate of Rice Lake High. She was enrolled this fall at the Rice Lake vocational school and worked part time at the Milk Pail. Cheryl was active in the school band, the ski club, in church activities and was a member of the Barron County Young Republicans. She is survived by her parents, a sister, Mrs. Connie Bourne of Beaufort, South Carolina; one brother, James, of Rice Lake; and her grandmother, Mrs. J.M. Findlay of Proctor, MN.

Cheryl Joy Moilanen, 57, of Hudson passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2009 due to injuries sustained in an accident on Feb. 5.

She was born the daughter of Lester and Margaret (Fillmore) Watrud on Christmas, Dec. 25, 1951, in Rice Lake, Wis.
She graduated from Rice Lake High School, went on to take many classes in communications, and attended college at UW-Stout. Cheryl was a tenacious and a go-getter; she worked her way up the ranks, eventually becoming a communications director of a telephone company. She spent two years in Belgium helping to set up a communications (telephone/cable/ Internet) system, and took every class on the subject that she could to help her career.
Cheryl and her husband, John, recently had their 30th anniversary; they were united in marriage on April 14, 1979, in Afton, Minn. John's children, Jon "Jack" and Jeanne, completed their family.
Throughout her life, Cheryl was always on the go and doing "something." She had a love of both the young and old. She was just ending her time as the director of the Senior Center in Somerset, she delivered Meals on Wheels and she volunteered to transport the elderly to their appointments. This past year, she was proud of attaining her license to drive a school bus.
Everyone else came first to Cheryl; she was selfless, adventurous (skydiving 12 times!) and kept her home and yard immaculate. She would get the party going -- and be the one to end it.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lester Watrud Sr.; mother, Margaret Walters; and step-father, Arthur Walters; siblings, Albert Haus Sr., Lester Watrud Jr. and June Jakway; and mother-in-law, Ann Seekel.
Cheryl is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, John Molianen; son, Jon "Jack" Moilanen; daughter, Jeanne (John) Bellecourt; three grandchildren, Cassandra (Dan) Odell, Michael Bellecourt and Jenna Bellecourt; great-grandson, Justin Odell; brothers, Mark (Renee) Watrud and Steven (Barb) Watrud; sisters, Fern Goodell, Betty Wohlk, Barbara Besecker, Maryann (Lee) Hanson and Bonnie (Dale) Isenberg; brother-in-law, Chuck (Julie) Seekel; many, many nieces, nephews and their families, extended family members and a vast multitude of friends.
A memorial service for Cheryl was at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 27, at Bethel Lutheran Highlands Church, 504 Frontage Road, in Hudson.
Visitations are one hour prior to the service at the church, and on Sunday, April 26, from 4-7 p.m. at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, (715) 386-3725. Interment was in Rice Lake at Nora Cemetery at 4 p.m.

Dennis R. Allen, age 60, of Rice Lake, WI died Thursday, December 13, 2012 at his home in the care of his family and hospice. He was born October 19, 1952 in Rochelle, IL to John and Bertha (Bolhous) Allen. On October 21, 1972 he was married to Pam Hefter in Rice Lake, WI. Dennis was self employed most of his life where he was “Jack of all trades” and where he worked hard and played hard. Dennis also enjoyed fishing, golfing, riding his ATV and spending time with friends and family. Family was the most important thing in Denny’s life. He enjoyed his yearly family reunions in Illinois. Dennis is survived by his wife, Pamela Allen of Rice Lake, WI; 2 sons, Michael Allen (Sara) of Barron, WI and Gary Allen (Angie) of Rice Lake, WI; a daughter, Casey Allen (Mark) of Bloomer, WI; 4 grandchildren, Jordyn, Jayce, Leah and Karlee Allen; his mother, Bertha Kennay (Don) of Ashton, IL and a sister, Carol Saffert (Tim) of Madison, WI. He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis “D.J.” Allen, his father, John Allen, and a sister, Dianne Schultz. Funeral services were held December 17, 2012 at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals with Rev. Susan Anderson officiating.

Dianne is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Allen of Rice Lake. She is survived by her husband, Edward, her parents, one brother, Dennis, a sister, Carol, and her grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. William Bolhous of Oregon, Illinois and Mrs. Corrine Allen of Rochelle, Illinois. Funeral services were held at the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Rice Lake with Rev. Donald Berry officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn cemetery at Birchwood.

GUTTERSEN, GARY ALAN Ada Gary Alan Guttersen, age 62, of Ada, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 19, 2014. Greg G. Hartman, age 61, of Sarona, WI died Sunday, December 1, 2013. He was born July 8, 1952 in Rice Lake, WI to Glen and Anna Mae (Swenson) Hartman. Greg graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1970 and entered the United States Navy and served for 3 years during the Vietnam Era. He loved working on his computers and the friendship of his cats. Greg received an Associate Degree at Eau Claire District 1, (now known as Chippewa Valley Technical College). He had his Microsoft Certification / Operating Certification and was the owner and operator of Greg’s Computer Assistance.

Greg is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, John & Jill Hartman of Sarona, WI; stepmother, Betty Hartman, of Tennessee, a nephew, Austin (Katie) Hartman; 2 great nephews, Aiden and Declan; 2 step nephews, Joe (Heather) Meehean and Ricky (Mindy) Meehean; 3 step great-nephews, and a step great niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Anna Mae Hartman. Private services will be held.
