Previously commanded three training companies including a year with a Basic Combat Training Company. After graduation from West Point, served in Germany with 3rd Armored Div. and in Vietnam with 199th LIB and 101st Airborne Div. Served with Major 'Gus' Pagonis in Nam. He was highly instrumental in the later success of Desert Storm as the three star general in command of the entire, highly successful logistical efforts of the campaign.
