Lois Ann Hayden, 88, of Roanoke County went home to her Lord and Saviour on Friday, July 3, 2026. Ann was born on July 22, 1937, to Lemuel and Edna Absher. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Leigh Ann Kurtz; sister and brother-in-law, Claudine and Raymond Meador; and brother, Ray Absher.
Ann attended school at William Byrd High School in Vinton, Virginia where she was a majorette in the marching band. William Byrd was where she met the love of her life, Jerry Hayden. They were married and this September would celebrate 70 years of wedded bliss. Those years produced two beautiful daughters, Lynne and Leigh Ann, who gave Ann and Jerry three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Ann lived a life of service and devotion to her Lord, her family, her church and her community. Ann was never shy of work. She worked for Roanoke City and retired from both Macy’s Department Store and Grand Home Furnishings.
Ann is survived by her husband of almost 70 years, Jerry L. Hayden; daughter, Lynne Doyle (Sam); grandchildren, Samantha Gilbert, Amanda Jennings (Josh), and Jordan Kurtz; her great-grandchildren, Annalyn, Caden and Colton Gilbert, and Olivia and Savannah Jenning; along with many nieces and nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Oakey’s North Chapel with Mr. Harrel Thompson officiating. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
