arson A. (Brownie) Moore, 85, of Vinton, passed away Monday, August 2, 2004.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member VFW Post #4522 and American Legion Post #80, a retiree of Norfolk & Western Railway with 40 years of service, and a member of Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his three sons, Timothy Scott Moore and wife Peggy of Vinton, James Gary Moore of Roanoke, and Jeffrey Brooks Moore and wife Molly of Rockbridge County; and a grandson, Adam Moore of Vinton.

Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 5, 2004 with the Rev. Robin L. Colwell officiating. Burial with military honors by VFW Post 1264 will be in Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to the Third Century Fund at Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church, 707 East Washington Avenue, Vinton, Va. or Good Samaritan Hospice, 3825 Electric Road, Roanoke, Va. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday evening at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
