WISEMAN, Maurice W., 80, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2001 in a local hospital. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army and was the recipient of five bronze stars. He was a member of Huntington Court United Methodist Church. Mr. Wiseman was a retired captain with 35 years service from the Roanoke City Fire Department, serving as historian with the department. Surviving are his wife, Lois Brown Wiseman; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa W. Lotts and Crim C. Lotts of Newport News; grandsons, Mark A. Lotts and Brian A. Lotts; brothers, Howard W. Wiseman of Norfolk, Andrew W. Wiseman of Wirtz, and Earl W. Wiseman of Roanoke; sisters, Kathleen Bartlett of Chesapeake and Norma W. Painter of Portsmouth; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials are to be made to Huntington Court United Methodist Church, 3333 Williamson Road, Roanoke, Va. 24012, or a charity of one's choice. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2001 from Oakey's North Chapel. The Rev. Kenneth K. Patrick will officiate. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Oakey's North Chapel.
