James Curtis "Jim" or "Jimmy" Wise, 81, of Waynesboro, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 16, 2023, at The Retreat at Fishersville. Jim endured a long battle with Parkinsonism and Lewy Body Dementia. He was born on July 17, 1941, in Fort Monroe, Va., the son of the late Bennie and Thelma (Sexton) Wise. Jim was a loving and devoted husband, father and son. He enjoyed a lifetime career in bank marketing and volunteered his time to many organizations.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Geoffrey Stafford Wise. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Jerra Barksdale Wise; two daughters, Benée Wise Curtis (Chris) of Houston, Texas, and Micheline Wise Williams (Robert) of Moorefield, W.Va.; and grandchildren, Graham, Ewan and Callum Curtis and James, Elizabeth and Geoffrey Williams.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Patrick Ryan officiating. Interment will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke, Va.
