Brenda Jones Ward '58, passed away at the age of 84 on November 18, 2024. Born on September 2, 1940, in Vinton, VA to the late Aubrey Jones and Margaret Jones, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 37 years, Barry Ward, Sr., '58. (As you can see, they were "high school sweethearts.")
She leaves behind cherished memories with her daughter Amy Fuster, son Barry Ward, Jr., and sister Faye Neal.
Brenda dedicated her life to teaching and left a lasting impact on the lives of her students. She had an unwavering passion for education and enjoyed engaging in conversations with former pupils. When she wasn't shaping young minds, Brenda could often be found engrossed in a good book or surrounded by loved ones.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Oakey's North Chapel. A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
