David L. Newcomer

Class of 1965

Dave attended Juniata College and Temple University School of Medicine. After graduating medical school he completed his general surgical residency in Philadelphia at Episcopal Hospital. Since going into solo surgical practice in Lancaster (1977), he has performed over 27,000 operations and attended 31,000 patients. He and his wife Susan of 32 years raised Arabian horses on their farm in E. Petersburg until the mid 1990's and showed them all over the country. After getting out of the horse business in 2000, Dave took up skydiving and flying and has done nearly 900 skydives, including many demo, jet, hot air balloon, helicopter, and night jumps in 27 different states, including water and beach landings. He has also done five skydives from 30,000' altitude, one of which was at night. He has combined a life-long interest in photography with flying and takes thousands of aerial photos each year. Dave has two sons, a daughter, and two granddaughters and presently resides in E. Petersburg.
