Paul Gordon Sutliff

Passed away 2020

Paul Gordon Sutliff attended Walla Walla High School in Walla Walla, WA.

Class of 1971
Date of Passing Dec 12, 2020
Paul grew up in Walla Walla. He worked with his father at the local pharmacy and spent summers with his family working his grandparents’ farm in Montana.
Paul graduated from the Air Force Academy and with his wife Nina, began a tour of the world, being stationed in Germany, Korea, and across the United States.

Paul trained new pilots in multiple aircraft, worked with NATO, and handled operations of the Western Air Defense Sector. His favorite assignments, however, were always in the cockpit, most often in the F4 Phantom. Despite their original plan to retire in Washington State, when the opportunity to get back behind the stick of F4’s arose, the family moved for one last active-duty assignment in Panama City, Florida. It would be there that Paul would finally retire as a Lieutenant Colonel from the Air Force after 26 years of service, but he did not retire from the cockpit. He would continue to fly for various defense contractors at Tyndall Air Force Base until he retired to Colorado Springs.

Paul passed away at the assisted living community from liver and kidney failure due to Alzheimer’s.
