Enlisted in January 1985, attending Basic and AIT, Jump School, Officer Candidate School, and assigned to the 6th Combat Aviation Brigade at Fort Wainwright Alaska, from 1986-1990 and the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum till September 1992; served in the reserves for additional 2 years in Syracuse NY ending his service as a Major.
