Happy Holidays Pointers!
The final Sparrows Point High School Alumni Association meeting of 2009 will take place on Tuesday, December 15 at 7:00 PM in the school library. Attendance has been growing in the past few meetings, but there’s always room for more! The organization needs your support, and I can't think of a better time to attend a meeting, see some old friends and make some new ones. While we do have some unfinished business to attend to, this Holiday meeting is special. There will be a short business meeting followed by our annual pot luck Christmas celebration. Please pass this on to any alumni members that we may have forgotten.

This is the first meeting of the 2009-2010 school year and will be held in the school library. Your attendance and input is vital to the continued success of the Association. Please plan on joining us...you will be automatically entered to win SPHS merchandise.

SPHS Plans Centennial Celebrat
Sparrows Point High School is celebrating its centennial this year. A committee consisting of alumni, faculty, administration, and current students is planning a variety of public events to commemorate the one hundredth anniversary of the school, on Friday and Saturday, May 8 and 9, 2009.
To kick off the special weekend celebration, on Friday, May 8, alumni, former and current faculty and administrators, and other guests will be able to enjoy fine dining and socializing at the SPHS Centennial Dinner at the Sparrows Point Country Club. The $40 per person tickets will be available for purchase soon.
On the morning and afternoon of Saturday, May 9, the school building and campus will be busy with celebratory activities, including an opening ceremony and keynote address, gatherings of former classmates and teachers, a museum display depicting the last century of “Pointer” life, a variety of musical and dance presentations, an antique car display, the opening of an old time capsule and the sealing up of a new one, community bus tours, walking tours of the school, a silent auction, food and drink concessions, and sales of SPHS memorabilia.
On the same day, the school will present its annual Spring Art Show and its annual Academic Expo touting the talent and excellent work of its current students. Visitors to the exhibits will enjoy ambient music performed by the school’s renowned steel drum band.
