Carl Wayne “Cookie” Withrow of St. Albans went to be with our Lord on Thursday November 18, 2010, after a long illness.

His love for the Lord was evident by the way he lived his life, loved his family and served his church.

Born May 24, 1943, in St. Albans, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Dorothy Withrow. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Withrow.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Judy Cyrus Withrow; and children, Carl Withrow Jr. and wife Sybil, Leighann Hamrick and husband Dr. R. Edward Hamrick Jr., and Danielle McCray and husband Michael; 10 grandchildren, Matthew and Kaelin Withrow, Roland Edward “R.E.” III, Patrick, Robert, Tura Elizabeth, Benjamin Carl, Jackson Hamrick, Dakota and Sophia McCray. He is also survived by his brother, Mike Withrow and wife Dinah; and sister-in-law, Mary Nell. He had numerous nieces and nephews.

Carl married his lifelong soulmate, Judy, on February 2, 1962. They spent 49 years together raising their family in St. Albans. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 14 years, active and reserve duty. He was a graduate of St. Albans High School and West Virginia State College. He worked for FMC and Kaiser Aluminum. He was a magistrate and the Sheriff of Kanawha County from 1981-1985.

Carl was past president of the Coal Rivers Lions Club, past president of American Legion, and on the board of trustees of American Police Hall of Fame and Museum. He was in Who's Who in West Virginia 1983-84, and Who's Who in American Law Enforcement 1983. He had numerous hobbies, including music, playing his many guitars, antique cars and his grandchildren.

Dannie Bruce Taylor, 51 of St. Albans died July 3, 2014 at home after a long battle with diabetes.

He was a 1981 Graduate of St. Albans High School. He was drafted and played for the WV Rockets Semi-pro Football Team and was a professional wrestler with NWA and the Ohio Wrestling Circuit. He retired from Love Security.

He was preceded in death by Mother: Martha Ellen Snodgrass Taylor,
Maternal Grandparents: Dannie and Elsie Mitchell Snodgrass and
Paternal Grandparents: Bruce Sr. and Hester Selbe Taylor.

Surviving Are:

His daughter whom he loved more than life: Katlin Marie Taylor of Ripley,

Father: Bruce Robert “J.R.” Taylor Jr. of St. Albans,

Sister: Priscilla Elaine Taylor of St. Albans,

Graveside service and burial will be 1 p.m. Tuesday July 8, 2014 at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes with Rev. David Kinder officiating.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m Monday July 7, 2014 Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet.

John Charles Fitch, 68, of Concord, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the loving and devoted husband of Carolyn Kidd Fitch for 47 years.

Born in Wheeling, West Virginia on Oct. 6, 1942, he was a son of the late John Robert Fitch and June Hawes Fitch and was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Katelyn Ruth Fitch and a brother, Wilbur Fitch.

He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and Academy of Model Aeronautics.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, John (Deborah) Lawrence Fitch, of Winchester, Karl (Sharon) Richard Fitch, of Greenbrier, Tenn.; a brother, Robert Howard Fitch, of Saint Albans, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jeremiah, John Caleb and Rebekah.

Mark Andrew Stover, 44, of St. Albans passed away Thursday, December 18, 2008, at his home. He was born in Charleston on April 14, 1964.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Bradley Judson Stover.

Surviving are his mother, Mary Louise Stover; brothers, Michael Joe Stover of Orlando, Fla., David Buford Stover of Valley Head, Daniel Elliott Stover of West Virginia and Frederick Randall Stover; sisters, Deborah Frances Harvey of St. Albans, Nancy Eloise Snead of Dunbar and Janet Lou Webb of St. Albans.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Monday at the West Dunbar Community Church on Bunch Avenue with the Rev. Doyle Young officiating.

Survived by his wife Laura Campbell Pauley,stepson Jason Cleek and family and step daughter Karrie Cleek Sowders and family
Grand children Kayleigh, Tyler Nx Cameron Cleek. JD and Bella Sowders.
Mother Diana Sue Pauley, brothers Gary,David,Ronnie,and Jamie Pauley all of St.Albans. Many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. Rich worked for Dodrill Heating and Cooling in Cross Lanes. He loved camping , fishing , and his 3 Jack Russell Terriers Dodgerlee, Rocky and Lily.
He was laid to rest in the Pauley Family Cemetery in St. Albans.

Sara E. Alexander, 67, of South Charleston died on Sunday, September 5, 2010, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, after a short illness.

She was a beautician, poll worker at election time, caretaker and good friend.

She is survived by one brother, Dan (Deanna) Alexander of Montgomery, Alabama; several nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John H. Alexander Jr. and Virginia Simms Alexander; and her brother, John H. Alexander III.

The remains have been cremated. There will be a private service at a later date.

William T. Hazelrigg William T. "Bill" Hazelrigg, 64, died Sunday, July 15, 2007, in Hollywood, Fla., after a short illness. He was born in Charleston, the son of Eva K. Hazelrigg and the late Edwin T. Hazelrigg. He grew up in St. Albans, graduating from St. Albans High School. After attending Marshall University, he served four years in the Air Force and was a Vietnam veteran. He lived several years in Rochester, N.Y., before moving to south Florida. He was employed by Bell South Telephone Company until he retired in 1999. He is survived by his mother, Eva K. Hazelrigg of Charleston; brother, Edwin L. Hazelrigg of Hendersonville, N.C.; and niece, Laura H. McCauley of Dallas, Texas. A graveside service with military rites will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Mountain View Memorial Park, Charleston. Service will be conducted by the VFW Post 6418, the American Legion Post 73, and the Amvets Post 20, all from St. Albans. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
