Scott Miller
Class of 1988
Navy, 20+ Years
Lieutenant Commander US Navy. 22 years of service. Enlisted in 1988 and served on nuclear powered submarines for 6 years. Selected for an officer program in 1997 and attended the University of South Carolina, receiving a BS in Computer Science - Computer Information systems. Went back to nuclear powered submarines as a commissioned officer and served for another 10 years. Currently transitioning to the Navy technical science field of Meteorology and Oceanography and will soon be serving on an aircraft carrier. Earned the following degrees since graduation from Ritenour High:
BS Computer Science (Information Systems), University of South Carolina, magna cum laude
BS Workforce Education, Training, & Development, Southern Illinois University, summa cum laude
MS Engineering Management, Old Dominion University
Currently completing a MS in Meteorology and Oceanography from the Naval Post Graduate School.

Upon discharge from U.S. Navy I joined the Connecticut National Guard and entered as E-5 Sargent. Activated for Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Assigned to Aircraft Maintenance Dept. as E-6 Staff Sargent. Also served as National Guard Bugler for Military Funerals. Retired 1998
