Larry B. Cox
Class of 1968
Larry Cox grew up in Richland Hills and graduated from Richland High School in 1968. Larry was an exceptional student, good athlete and great person. He was one of the Favorites of our class. He attended Schreiner Institute and graduated from the University of Texas.
Among his professional positions was a time spent as a high-level officer for Mary Kay Corporation in Dallas. We always felt that Larry was not really cut out for big company politics, but he did very well. He finally burned out in the early 90s and left the corporate world. He began working with a small church in West Dallas to help them build houses and, I think, even physically build the church itself.
In the last several years, Larry has been the Executive Director of an organization called Juntos Servimos. I am not sure of all the history, but I know that several Dallas area churches have been financially supportive of the group. Among other things, they provide a number of services to the terribly disadvantaged people living in the Matamoros, Mexico area. Larry and Dr. Nancy Rodriguez have literally changed peoples lives. They provide health care, housing and many other services to these needy people. Most of these children and adults would never receive any medical treatment at all without the work of Larry and Dr. Nancy.
Many individuals from the Dallas area have volunteered to go to Mexico to help.
Larry Ben has completely given his life to helping others and all of his long-time friends from Richland High School are extremely proud of him.
Larry rarely gets back to Fort Worth or Dallas. He comes up twice a year for the fund-raiser golf tournament (Larry doesnt play) and a banquet at the Highland Park United Methodist Church.
He never wants any credit for doing the things he does, but he wants to make people aware of the huge needs that exist. Although Larrys work is not done locally, he is a great source of pride and inspiration to many people living in the Fort Worth Dallas area. I dont think you could find a better candidate for the Wall of Fame than Larry Ben Cox of Richland Hills.
