Cody worked as a metal fabricator for a year after graduation, then he joined the Navy as a Fire Controlman. He worked on the AEGIS weapon system for 9 years, eventually achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He is now commissioned as a Surface Ordnance Officer, stationed on a Guided Missile Destroyer in San Diego, CA.
