| About Me | I became a perpetual student, worked hard and planned for the future. Began my public service career as a Firefighter/EMT ($96 for a 56-hr. work week), trained as a Paramedic, then advanced to Fire Lieutenant (shift officer), Deputy Fire Chief, Fire Chief, Assistant City Manager, City Manager (different cities) and County Administrator. Led two cities and one county from financial distress to financial strength while REDUCING the cost burden on taxpayers (my philosophy about the proper role of government and how it should operate is somewhat different and I'm not afraid of the work it takes to operate UNLIKE government as usual). Presently, City Manager in Bartow, FL (last stop in this business). It has been immensely rewarding to have served in positions which have enabled me to positively affect the lives of hundreds of employees and thousands of citizens during the 40-something years since high school! Instructed various adult education courses at Hillsborough Community College and University of South Florida. Served on curriculum advisory boards for Hillsborough Community College, Palm Beach Junior College and presently Polk State Corporate College; past board director/chairman for Seacoast Utility Authority, board director for Raulerson Hospital and board director/chairman for Okeechobee Utility Authority.
