One of his recommendations for my excuses for tardiness that I've never forgotten: "Willie Lindsey...don't catch the late bus, catch the bus before the late bus! After this occasion, he sent me to Coach Brewer's office for the ritual paddling! God bless them both for trying to correct my faults.
