Rosmari Elaine Celeste Pleasure, born September 12, 1963, Killed Mar 2, 1998, A More Excellent Way, Inc. (AWay) was born in response to this tragedy and is committed to bringing an end to these violent acts that plague our community. AWay has a scholarship fund The fund is used to award scholarships to survivors of domestic violence who attend a historically black college or university. Additionally, the Department of Journalism at the University of Memphis will benefit from a scholarship fund created in memory of Rosmari Pleasure. Pleasure, an editorial assistant at The Commercial Appeal for 12 years, was murdered March 2 outside her Midtown home. The scholarship fund has been set up at National Bank of Commerce.
