I sincerely regret to inform you that a much loved alumni Juanita Askew Washington, Northside High School Class of 1980, has transitioned from Earth and has watched a sunrise in Heaven. Juanita was shot and killed Wednesday, December 29, 2021 as she exited a Memphis Walgreens. The shooting happened just before 1 p.m. in the parking lot of Walgreens at 3177 S. Perkins in Parkway Village. The MPD has stated that the suspect was a black male that fled the scene in a white van. Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers at 901-528-CASH.

At this time, I have no further information on the arrangements or the wishes of the family. This will be updated as soon as this information is made known to me.
