Was stationed in Long Beach, CA from October 1968 thru June 1971; then I was transferred to San Diego thru July 1972. I was on the USS Valley Forge until it was decommissioned in 1969; I served the rest of my time on the USS Denver. They were part of the 7th Fleet and I made four tours to Vietnam and many other ports.

Entered service in 1965, saw one tour plus 180 days in Viet Nam. I saw most of the world, still trying to see the rest. I retired from active duty 25 years to the day that I enlisted.

Served the US ARMY Field Artillery during the Cold War in (85-87)West Germany's 7th USAFAD Special Weapons Unit, Part of the 59th Ordnance Brigade. PCS'ed to(87-89) Fort Lewis 1st Battalion, 11th Field Artillery Battery. The 1-11FA unit served as the test platform for Integrating Electronics Fire Control into the Artillery pieces. I worked with 8inch Self Propelled, 155mm Towed and Self Propelled Howitzers. The Motto of the Field Artillery is: LEAD, FOLLOW or GET OUT OF THE WAY which I stand by even today. The Speacial Weapons training was by far the most interesting and the real reason why I glow in the dark!
