Dennis Wayne McCraw, 46, of Laurel, died Sunday, March 25, 2007, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Tuckers Crossing Baptist Church in Jones County, with burial in the church cemetery. The Revs. Eddie Bryant and Tyler Powell will officiate.

A self-employed carpenter, he was a member of Tuckers Crossing Baptist Church. He was a Mason and a Shriner and a member of Myrick Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Thomas McCraw.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Powell McCraw of Laurel; his financée, Teresa Walters of Ellisville; his financée’s children, LeAnn Newcomb and T.J. Ryals, both of Ellisville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Kimberly and Chris Baker of Birmingham, Ala., and Pamela and Roger Walters of Laurel; and three nieces, Paisley Walters, Candice Baker and Haley Baker.

Pallbearers will be Eric Evans, Rusty Seals, Johnny Scarbrough, Roger McCraw Jr., Darren McCraw and Timmy Powell. Scott Taylor will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

James Porter, 46, of Hattiesburg,(formerly of the Mt. Olive Community, died Thursday, March 27, 2008, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, at Wayside Holy Church.
Survivors include his wife, Gennie Simmons of Hattiesburg MS; sons, James Porter Jr. of Hattiesburg, MS., and Jericho Beason of Erie, Penn.; daughters, Shukina Atkins, Erika McLain, and Kimberly Moore, all of Laurel, MS., and Angelica Porter and Alexus Porter, both of Hattiesburg, MS.; sisters, Deborah Wilson of Hattiesburg, MS.; and LaBrenda Plummer of Gulfport,MS.; brothers, Steve Plummer of Gulfport,MS.; Henry Lee Donaldson and Bobby Donaldson, both of Flint, Mich.; Reevinoils Plummer of Sacramento, Calif.; and Odell Cooley of Dayton, Ohio; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 9 until 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Century Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Kent Allen Newcomb,46,of Greenville, S.C., formely of Laurel, MS., was killed in an accidental fall in Charlotte, N.C., on Friday, February 8, 2008.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Senitte A. Newcomb; his father, Kimbel S. Newcomb; his maternal grandparents, Buck McMinn and his grandmother, Ann McMinn Lawson.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Dianne Newcomb of Greenville, S.C.; his mother, Dianne Newcomb and his grandmother, Frances Delina Lyon, both of Laurel, MS.; son, Zachery Newcomb of Ellisville, MS.; and a very special cousin, Ken Walters of Laurel, MS.; a number of aunts, uncles, and other relatives.
As per his wishes, cremation is being handled by National Cremations Services in Charlotte, N.C.

Priscilla Jean Jones, 45, of Gulfport, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, June 12, 2008.Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. this evening at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, 10587 Auto Mall Parkway in D’Iberville.Born in Laurel, she graduated from Northeast Jones High School. There she played the flute in the band for four years. She later attended Jones County Junior College in Ellisville and Edward Waters in Jacksonville, Fla., where she majored in Accounting.Priscilla moved to Gulfport in 1985 and was employed at Hancock Bank for nearly 15 years. She was a faithful member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church of D’Iberville where she sang in the Sanctuary Choir until her health began to fail her. She was a wonderful mother, daughter and friend. She was dearly loved and will be sadly missed.She was preceded death by her father, Percy L. Jones.Survivors include her mother, Mittie J. Jones of Laurel; her son, Frank Dejzon Jones of Gulfport; her daughter, Lotonjia Shire Jones of Gulfport; brothers, Percy Jones Jr., Terry (Melissa) Jones, and Quincy Jones, all of Laurel; and her sister, Patricia Jones Watson of Gulfport.Visitation will began at 6 p.m. at the church. Her Homegoing Celebration will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, at Morning Star AME Church, 274 Friendship Road in Laurel. Burial will follow at Nora Davis Cemetery in Laurel.Care of our mother is entrusted only to the professionalism of Marshall Funeral Home.
