He served in the U.S. Army in Viet Nam. He attended Grandview College, Iowa State University and graduated from Drake University with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. He was a postal clerk with the U.S. Postal Service for over 20 years. He married Pamela Hll on December 27, 1969. Survivors include Pam; daughter Jennifer Crise; son, Tod McCrea; and 5 grandchildren; his mother, Am Mary McCrea; brothers, George McCrea III; David McCrea; sisters, Nancy Reed, Jean McCrea and Susan Hollobaugh.
