Kevin Taylor
Class of 1986
National Guard, 19 Years
Kevin entered the Army in July of 1986, shortly after graduation from high school. After Basic and advanced training Kevin served at Fort Hood, Texas for 18 months before being reassigned to Pusan, Republic of Korea where he served for 4 years. He returned to Fort Hood, Texas and served there for three years before separating from the service. After a three year break, during which he finished his education and began is career in public education, he re-entered the service in the Texas Army National Guard. He was mobilized with the 449th Personnel Service Detachment and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedon in 2003. After returning from the war, Kevin returned to his career in education. He competed for and won the title of Texas Army National Guard and Fifth Army East Region Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year in 2005. Taylor competed against NCOs from Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Kanasas, Iowa, and Nebraska in his quest for the title. He is currently assigned to the Texas Army National Guard Training Site Command and helps support National Guard Training at Camp Bowie in Brownwood, Texas. His military decorations include the Texas Medal of Merit, the Army Achievement Medal fourth award, the Army Commendation Medal - fifth award, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the National Defense Ribbon with star, the Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development ribbon, the Global War on Terrorism Campaign Ribbon, the Global War on Terrorism Service Ribbon, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Texas Faithful Service Medal,
