AUSTIN WHITFIELD died in Monahans, Texas, on September 2, 1980. He was 33 years of age and was a life-long resident of Monahans. On March 2, 1965, he was married to Yvonne Skinner in Odessa. In addition to his wife, Yvonne, he was also survived by 4 sons, David, Donald, Allen, and Austin III; one brother, Freddie; one sister, Helen Ruth Johnson; and his parents, Austin, Sr. and Juanita. Austin was employed as a truck driver. He was a member of the Church of God in Christ. Leon Grigry shared this about Austin…..“He was always friendly and polite. He loved being around people and always had a good story to tell.”
