About	PHYLLIS WHEELER JONES passed from this world on July 22, 1997, in San Angelo, Texas. She attended Sul Ross University in Alpine, and married Durwood Jones at Immanuel Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas, on June 2, 1967. She and Durwood have 2 sons, Michael Chris Jones and Jon Jason Jones and 4 grandchildren. Her mother and stepfather, Mr. & Mrs. Lampley from San Angelo, Texas also survived Phyllis. Phyllis especially loved being a "mother." She had set her heart on that and found it the most fulfilling thing in her life. She spent a lot of her summer time at a lake, boating and cooking and riding 4-wheelers with her 2 sons. She was adored by her grandchildren who called her "Mime". She was a beautiful lady inside and out and displayed it by her love for God, home, and country. When their sons were in high school, Phyllis and Durwood lived in Sonora, Texas. Later they moved to Liberal, Kansas, where she fought her battle with cancer for several years. Many trips were made to M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston. She was very courageous and she never complained. She often said to her mother, "I'm ready to go to Heaven, and since it will be a better place than here, don't worry, Momma." She kept her house and visited with friends, especially in her little country church. She loved to serve others. She taught in Daily Vacation Bible School and was preparing lunches even the day before she went to be with the Lord.
