Leon was born March 26, 1964 in Rock Island, Illinois to parents Dean and Carmella (Sotelo) Hiracheta. He met the love of his life, Teresa Ingold, when they were only 14 years old. As a previous member of the Boy Scouts of America, Leon served as a Troop Leader beginning at age 16. He graduated from Moline High School in 1982 and was united in marriage to Teresa shortly after. Leon went on to obtain a degree in Finance at Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids. The family moved to Fort Dodge to begin his career in finance.

In 1995, they relocated to the Marshalltown area, where Leon has dedicated 27 years as a financial advisor. Together he and Teresa owned and operated Ingold Group, LLC, where in addition to financial advice, he was an insurance agent and provided free social security counseling.

Leon was very involved in his community and had a passion for giving back. He was a member and current president of the evening Lions Club International, where he loved volunteering weekly for popcorn sales and Kids Sight with Teresa. He was a fourth degree knight for the Knights of Columbus. He has been a member of St. Henry’s Church for 27 years and took part in the men’s bible study group. Leon was an instructor for the American College of Financial Services and for Community Educators LLC., as well as a previous hunter’s safety instructor. In his free time, he enjoyed volunteering with his children and grandkids for many organizations, including Meals of the Heartland, YESS Duck Derby in Des Moines, Night Eyes at the Blank Park Zoo, Des Moines Arts Festival, Little Hands on the Farm at the Iowa State Fair and Salvation Army bell ringing every Christmas. He also helped organize Ingold Financial Groups Operation Christmas Child packing party. Leon loved woodworking and creating things for his family. Leon and Teresa participated in RAGBRAI for many years with their family as part of Team Dancing Dolphins. Leon, in past years, also served as a Kansas City Barbeque Society judge. In addition to his passion for his community, Leon was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, son, brother and friend.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 40 years, Teresa Ingold-Hiracheta; his three children: Michelle (Marcelo) Erazo of Pleasant Hill, Stephen (Lynda) Hiracheta of Cedar Rapids and Christina (Brent) Specht of Marshalltown; three grandchildren: Daniel, Orion and Meissa Erazo; his niece Kyla (Don) Woodford (Redding); his father, Dean Hiracheta; four siblings: Dean Hiracheta Jr., Phillip Hiracheta, Angelina Hiracheta and Maria Hiracheta; many more nieces, nephews and cousins and his beloved dog, Lily.

Leon is preceded in death by his mother, Carmella and his brother, Michael Hiracheta.
