Retired June 7, 2007 after 31 Great years. to sum up my carrer in a nut shell.

Born in Peoria, Ill., and raised in Lacon, Ill., I enisted under the delayed entry program in July 1976. Completed Basic Training in March 1977 and went on to attend AMH “A” School located in Millington, Tenn. In July 1977, reported for Duty with VT-6 NAS Whiting Field, Milton, Fla., as an Aircraft Mechanic with the T-28 Aircraft. In 1981, transferred to VAQ-33 Firebirds in Key West, Fla., to 1984, completed Instructor Training in Millington, Tenn., and then reported to VT-21 NAS Kingsville, Texas, as a PJT FRAMP Instructor where I earned my designation as a Master Training Specialist and Enlisted Air Warfare Specialist. After this tour of Instructor duty in 1987, reported to VAQ-140, NAS Whidbey Island, Oak Harbor, Wash., as the Airframes Leading Petty Officer, where I was advanced to an AMHC (E-7) in 1989. My duties as a the Chief, led me to several different Departments, Aircraft Division Chief, Maintenance Control Chief, Flight Deck Coordinator and Quality Assurance Chief for the EA6B Prowler. Next assignment took me to Millington Tenn., in 1992, as a Training Program Coordinator for CNTECHTRA (N5). Here I advanced to AMCS (E-8) in 1993 and held the position as the Senior Enlisted Leader for COMNAVMIDSOUTH from 1994-1995. After a successful tour in Millington, reported to the Senior Enlisted Accademy in May 1995 and graduated with academic honors in 1995 class 67. At the completion of SEA, reported to HS-8 NAS North Island as the Aircraft Division and Maintenance Control Senior Chief where I was advanced to AFCM (E-9) in April 1996. In November of 1997, was selected to the Command Master Chief program and reported to HSL-47 in 1998 as a Command Master Chief.
I served with several Aviation platforms, VT-6, NAS Whiting Field, Fla.,, VAQ-33 NAS Key West, Fla.,, VT-21 FRAMP, NAS Kingsville, Texas VAQ-140 NAS Whidbey Island, Wash., HS-8 NAS North Island, and HSL-47 NAS North Island. I was the Maintenance Master Chief Petty Officer for HS-8 NAS North Island, Calif., from 1995-1998 and served as Command Master Chief for HSL-47 NAS North Island, from 1998-2000, USS Essex 2000-2004 and Commander Fleet Activities Okinawa Sep 2004 to my retirement June 7, 2007.

During my career, completed several Carrier Qualification aboard the Carriers, USS America, USS Kitty Hawk, USS Constellation, USS Carl Vinson and USS Lexington. Made a total of three Mediterranean Deployments, one North Atlantic, with USS Eisenhower (CVN 69), two WESTPAC Deployments, and one around the world deployment with USS Nimitz (CVN 68). I was with USS Eisenhower (CVN 69) in August 1990 upon the call to stand on station due to the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait.

My first shore command senior enlisted billet, was with the Chief of Naval Technical Training (CNTECHTRA) in 1992 as a Training Program Coordinator (TPC) for Aviation systems and was selected to represent Commander Naval Region Mid South COMNAVMIDSOUTH as the Command Senior Chief. My first Command Master Chief position was with HSL-47 NAS North Island, Calif., and follow on Tour onboard USS Essex (LHD2) Forward Deployed Naval Forces, Sasebo, Japan and Okinawa, Japan till my retirement from the US Navy after 31 years.

My personal awards include the Navy Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy Achievement Medal (two awards) and various service and campaign awards.
