James W. Warhola was named the 2002 Distinguished Maine Professor, the highest academic distinction awarded to members of the faculty of the University of Maine, where he has served on the faculty since 1983. Professor Warhola earned his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University, and currently serves as chairman of the Department of Political Science at the University of Maine. He has been a visiting research scholar at Moscow State University (Russia), Bilkent University (Ankara, Turkey), Harvard University, Emory University, and Baylor University. He has published several monographs and dozens of articles in academic journals, and has speaking and research competence in 7 languages.
