| About Me | "Artist Statement" The greatest inspiration for my painting comes from my most colorful memories, emotional pain, and my day to day life. At times, when I close my eyes very tightly, the colors and form magically appear in my head. I work with layers of thick and thin color, all adding to an eventual sense of accumulation. I paint from the subconscious so there is no real plan in my work. My method primarilly involves the layering of color, which often causes the work to grow organically. My paintings can be complex through emotion. I strive to achieve a work that is compelling, meditative, and insightful in order for the viewer to illicit their own interpertation. Through art, I can express the wonder and curiosity I feel about the world I view. Through the relationship of color, each painting develops into a unique expression. Using visual suggestions, I attempt to draw the viewer into the depths of their own imagination. I paint to capture an emotion or feeling in the hope that the viewer is moved by its creation. My sense of accomplishment comes when the viewer experiences their own emotion in my work. The way it affects them is my true reward. My attempt is to change the viewer's way of thinking, through their own emotional relativity. It was not until November, 2010 that I decided to share my vision with the world around me, and begin my life as an artist. My influence and inspiration was finally brought to life by a local artist who guided me in the infancy of my career. My style was inspired by the wonderful paintings of hers and the famous abstract artists of New York. My past experiences with her, has shown me, that something beautiful can be created out of intense emotion and pain. There is nothing more satisfying to me, than to express my individuality on my canvasses. When I see people looking at my art, I feel that there is an opportunity for them, as the viewer, to get a glimpse into my soul. This makes me feel that my creation has purpose.....(read more) |
