Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

I enlisted in 1971. I was accepted into Military Intelligence. Spent 8 mos, and 8 days in Viet Nam until our fire base got over run by NVA. After a short stay at the hospital in Japan. I was re-assigned to Washington D.C. where I was assigned to the White House and then the Pentagon.
Decorations: CIB, Airborne Wings, Silver Star, Purple Heart, Joint Services Commondation, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Ribbon (never got caught doing anything bad), and others.
I loved the military. Other than combat. It was great. The history, tradition, true patriotism. I was never more proud to serve.
