Darrell Finley L.C.S.W., age 52, passed away at 11:03 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2011 at his residence in Alton.

He was born on March 25, 1959 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of the late Beatrice (Woods) Finley and his father Donald Finley survives.

He was a Licensed Certified Social Worker and was employed as a Program Therapist for the Center for Senior Renewal at Alton Memorial Hospital.

He is survived by his father and step-mother; Donald L. and Patsy Finley of Enid, OK, one sister and her spouse; Debbie and Byron Rosendahl of Fort Dodge, IA, one brother and his spouse; Donald and Tracey Finley of Tulsa, OK, two nephews and two neices; Christian Briggs and Tawney Finley, Jill and Mitch Rosendahl, three great nieces and nephews; Payton, McKenna and Logan, and paternal grandmother; Gladys Finley of TRC NM.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday December 22, 2011 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, IL.

Memorial service will be at 10 a.m., on Friday, December 23, 2011 at the Funeral Home with a close friend, James Fassler officiating.

Memorials may be directed to Alton Area Animal Aid Association.

Donald "Donnie" Stifel, 42, died Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at the Taylor Hospice House. Donnie was born August 1, 1967 in Des Moines, where he resided his entire life. He worked as a mechanic for 25 years. He is survived by his parents, Gloria and David "Pops" Sickels; son, Nick Stifel; sister, Jeni (Steve) Ash; uncles (his brothers), Steve (Tina) and Jack (Cinda) Stifel; three nephews; several cousins that were very close to Donnie. A celebration of Donnie's life was held on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Hamilton's Funeral Home.

After graduating from Lincoln in 1964, Mike served 4 years in the Air Force, thern went on to graduate from UNI in 1972. Upon graduating he began a 38 year career with John Deere. On April 28th he lost his battle with cancer. He leaves behind his wife, Jill, four children and six grand children.

Jonmichael Schutte, 36, died December 29, 2003 in Cozumel, Mexico. Memorial services were held Saturday, January 10, 2004 at the Marantha Open Bible Church at E. 27th and Grand Ave in Des Moines with Reverend Harry Russell officiating. Jonmichael was born September 8, 1967 in Des Moines and was a 1986 graduate of Lincoln High School. He was living in Cozumel with his fiancé, Adrianna Segovia Dominguez at the time of his death. Jonmichael is survived by his four loving children, Paige, Emily and Jacob Schutte and Jeffery Krugler all of Des Moines; his grieving mother and stepfather, Carol and Jim Ritsch of Dexter; his father, Jim Schutte of Petal, MS; and his grandparents, Robert and Glenna Brauer of Des Moines. Jonmichael leaves his brothers, Joel Schutte of Pleasant Hill, Joshua Schutte of Ripley, TN, Mark Holgate of Des Moines, and Brian Holgate of Cheyenne, WY. His surviving sisters are Leigh Hageman of Washburn, IA, Cindy Walentiny of El Dorado Springs, MO, Patricia Holgate of Boulder, CO, Lisa Shivvers of Winterset, IA and Laurie Coons of Des Moines, IA.

Kenneth "Kenny" Lee Miller, jr. 38, died Tuesday, January 10, 2006. Kenny was employed by Finishbinders as a pressman. He enjoyed many things; racing and riding motorcycles, especially with his boys; working on Hobby Stock Car #55, Steve Hill; and playing pool. But most of all, he enjoyed his family. He was known to everyone as a great prankster and favorite uncle to all the family. Kenny also served in the Army. Kenny is survived by his wife, Deb; two sons, Austin and Dillon; his mom, Kathy; sisters, Lori (Kyle) Webb and Sherri Miller; grandmother, Mamma Seabolt; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and one great-niece. Preceding him in death was his father in 2000.

Liebchen Wheeler Prather, 24, of Quantico, VA., died Friday March 26, 1993 in Fairfax, Virginia of injuries suffered in an auto accident. Her daughter, Elizabeth Katerina Prather, who was born following the accident, died Tuesday March 30, 1993. Joint services were held at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Des Moines, and both were buried in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Prather was born in Red Oak and Lived in Des Moines most of her life until moving to Virginia 2 1/2 years ago. She was a store manager for Fashion Bug Women's Wear and had been a member of the Lutheran Church. Survivors include her husband, Richard; her mother and Stepfather, Sherry and Douglas Butcher of Des Moines; her father and stepmother, Robert and Patricia Wheeler of West Des Moines; a sister Malisa Ireland of Bainbridge, N.Y.; two stepsisters, Brandie Isley of West Des Moines and Julie Thompson of Des Moines; Three stepbrothers, Chris Rhiner of West Des Moines, Douglas Butcher of Adel and Steve Rhiner of Des Moines; her grandmothers, Violet Flaugh of Des Moines and Lorraine Perkins of Red Oak; her step grandmothers, Marge Butcher of Atlantic and Ellen (Hellen) Coll of West Des Moines; and her great-grandmother, Julia Wheeler of Hastings.

Lance Cpl. Matthew Fahey Rossell, 21, stationed with the US Marines in Jacksonville, NC was killed in a helicopter crash while on a training mission in Rougon, France, Wednesday May 3, 1989. A memorial service was held at Holy Family Church in Council Bluffs, Ia. Burial was in the naval military cemetery in Pensacola, Fla. He was born in Council Bluffs and had lived in Des Moines for 18 years before joining the US Marines three years ago. He was a 1986 graduate of Lincoln High School in Des Moines. Surviving are his wife, Gwendolyn "Lyn" of Roswell, GA; his mother, Jayne Rossell of Des Moines; his father and stepmother, Gary and Connie Rossell of Council Bluffs; a sister, Kelly Rossell of Cedar Falls; a stepsister, Amber Carmen and a stepbrother, Grant Carmen, both of Council Bluffs; and his grandparents, Warren Fahey of Wagner, OK, Alvin Rossell of Omaha and Wanda Rossell of Lincoln, NE. Lance Cpl. Rossell is buried in Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola (Escambia County), Florida.

Michael Anthony "Spike" Baker, 36, died Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at Iowa Methodist Hospital of natural causes. Funeral services were Saturday April 10, 2004 at Southtown Funeral Home with burial following at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Michael was the general manager of the B-Bops on SE 14th Street. He was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed sports of all kinds. Michael was a wonderful father that loved his children more than anything. He is survived by his daughter, Taylor and son, Jonathan of Pleasant Hill; his fiancé, Teri Graves of Des Moines; his mother, Donna Baker of Des Moines; his father, Gary Baker and his wife Sandy of West Des Moines; his two brothers, Garry Baker of Virginia Beach, VA, and Marty Baker of Des Moines; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Russell Ogle died Monday August 14, 1988 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center from a gunshot wound he suffered during an altercation near the Des Moines Airport Sunday August 13, 1988. He was a lifelong resident of Des Moines and a carpenter employed with Stewart Systems. Surviving are his mother, Linda Devick of Washington state; his father, Roger, and a brother, Kent, both of Des Moines; two sisters, Rebecca Anthony of Issaquah, WA, and Jenny Ogle of Brooklyn; his grandparents, Charles and Pat Loney of Des Moines and Roy and Betty Ogle of Indianola; and his great grandparents, Dewey and Myrtle Loney of Des Moines.

She will be missed by all of her family and relatives. Terry is survived by her son, Joshua Michael; mother, Patricia J. Shoning; brothers, Charles (Jackie) and Roy Jr.; sister, Debbie Sue (Dale) Crawford; grandmother, Bonnie Holt; and her companion of eight years, Mark Shackette. Pastor Thomas LeRoy Smith, 43, of Burlington, died at his residence, on Monday, January 17, 2011. Born on December 26, 1967 in Des Moines, Iowa, he was the son of David and Gloria McCullough Smith. He married Amy Salsbury on March 21, 1992 in Des Moines, Iowa. Tom graduated from Lincoln High School in 1986. He received his B.A. in Religion from Drake University and his Masters of Divinity at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary. Tom was a member and pastor of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Burlington, Iowa. He is survived by his wife, Amy; one son, Cameron Smith; two daughters, Charissa Smith and Cayleigh Smith; his mother, Gloria Salinas of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; one sister, Yolanda Seveir of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three brothers, Randy, Michael & Marco Smith, all of Des Moines, Iowa; his paternal grandmother, Marie Smith of Tulsa, Oklahoma; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be dearly missed by the entire church family at First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Burlington, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his father, one niece and one uncle. Funeral services for Pastor Thomas LeRoy Smith were held on Monday, January 24, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Burlington, Iowa. Pastors Geoffrey Mitchell and Dean Benton will officiate.
