Graduated from BYU ROTC as a Field Artillery Officer with an aviation specialty. Went to the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course at Ft. Sill, OK in 1982, followed by flight school at Ft Rucker, AL. When Aviation became a branch, I dropped the field artillery. I was first stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC, followed by the Aviation Officer Advanced Course, CASSS, and Spanish language school. I then served in Panama. During my time in service, I flew the OH-58, UH-1 and UH-60.

I spent 4 years in the Naval 'Seabees' (1959 to 1973) which is equivilent to the Army engineers. Seabees are not fleet navy, they wear Marine Corps field uniforms but the Navy dress uniform. The NCO's (E-2, E-3) wear blue stripes to designate them as seabees. Very specialized military service.

I flew Combat Rescue in the HH-3E Jolly Green Giant. I attended helicopter training at Ft. Rucker AL and was stationed at Elmendorf AFB, AK. I transitioned into Special Operations and flew the MC-130E Combat Talon in the 8th SOS at Hurlburt Field, FL and the 1st SOS at Clark AB, Philippines. I was the J5 at Special Operations Command Pacific (SOCPAC), HI. I finished out my career in acquisition as a Deputy Program Manager over the MC-130H, a Program Director of all SOF Trainers (simulators), Chief of Systems Integration for the C-17 at Wright Patterson AFB, OH. My last assignment was at McChord AFB, WA where I was the Chief of the C-17 Integration Office (We changed the base from a C-141 to a C-17 base - modified and built new buildings for the C-17.) Stood up the first four C-17 squadrons and retired the C-141's. When I had many interesting flights in both helos and fixed wing in Special Operations. Sorry can't share those here.
