Alumni Stories
David Michael Lackie
Class of 1960
Dave passed away Aug 20 2023. He is survived by two sons and a daughter. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and his his High School sweetheart Dottie Kay Malone. He spent most of his life in McKinney TX where he was a restaurant owner, an antique dealer, furniture refinisher, and the GM of a large and very successful metal recycling business. Dave was an an avid collector and renowned expert of Native American Artifacts and many other historical collectibles. He loved the outdoors til his dying days and even held Boone and Crockett hunting records. Dave loved his family and was a very funny man who was so much fun to be around. He knew a little about a lot of things in this world and although not formally educated was extremely well read and could teach any univerclass about the Old West, American Indians and North American game animals. I, his youngest son, had the privilege of fishing and trapping with him most of my life. I was with him when he caught his last fish, a rainbow trout in Southern Colorado. Dad was loved by countless friends who flocked to his Memorial Service in McKinney TX. He will be remembered for his vast knowledge of all things with hides, scales, and antlers and was one of the most intelligent and interesting men I’ve had the pleasure to know and the privilege of calling him dad.
