Jo Rae Johnson

Class of 1976

I began my writing career at Irmo High with the first AFJROTC newspaper. I was the editor and Keith Bartsch was the cartoonist. Keith became a pilot in the Air Force and is now an attorney. Sgt Miles Mauldin, one of our ROTC instructors, taught us to reach for our dreams. One of my biggest dreams was to be a published writer.

In 2007, my dream became a reality. I was published in three books that came out simultaneously. I am in Chicken Soup for the Tea Lover's Soul, Chicken Soup Kids in the KItchen, and the 365 Day Life Verse Devotional. I am scheduled to be in the January/February 2009 issue of The Upper Room and the book, Christmas Traditions includes one of my stories and is scheduled for release fall of 2009.

Some doors are closing (I'll be divorced September 4, 2008) while others are opening up. i can't wait to see what God has planned next!
