Founded in 1928 and home of the yellow jackets, this school belongs to the District 5 of Lexington and Richland County School District in Columbia, US. Irmo High School’s mission is to provide a challenging curriculum to its students with a high expectation for learning, developing productive citizens who can meaningfully contribute to society. Irmo High School features grades from 9 to 12. The school is known for its widely successful sports teams; its football team won a state championship, the soccer team won 15 state championships, the basketball team won 5 championships, and the tennis teams won 18 championships. Their marching band also won 5A SCDBA Marching Championships. The school also organizes numerous events in community involvement to deepen the roots the students have within the community. Notable alumni from Irmo High School include Zach Prince (professional soccer player), Boby Weed (golf course designer), and David A. Wright (politician and businessman).
