About	Incredible determination can literally rewrite medical outcomes. Paige has continued to write and rewrite her story. Paige was born in 1974 in Norfolk, Va. to Eugene Henderson Basnight, Jr and the late Jeanne Watt Basnight LaShure. She graduated from Indian River High School in 1992 where she made many life-long friends (her village begins). Paige excelled as a drum major, cheerleader and student. She attended Chowan Collage and graduated from St. Leo University with a bachelors degree in Criminal Justice in 2008. She continued to make amazing life long friends. (Village grows larger) From 1996-98, Paige was faced with several life-threatening health challenges which she handled with grit, perseverance and grace. Surviving and surpassing all of these, Paige,continued working full time at McKenry, Dancigers, Dawson Law Firm while still receiving hours of in-clinic dialysis three days per week. In 1998 Paige received her donor kidney from her brother in law, Billy Knight. Such an unselfish gift and a new lease on life! The greatest love story of Paige's life was the one she shared with her beloved husband Christopher Scott Stone- her forever teddy bear! Married in 2009, they built a life centered on love, laughter, resilience and family. Their home was a gathering place where everyone felt welcome, conversations lasted for hours and memories were made that will be cherished forever. Scott and Paige complemented each other perfectly, creating a partnership that inspired those around them. 2013 brought answered prayers once again with another medical miracle: the birth of their son Scotty! Initially a fragile preemie, now thriving in good health! In 2016 Paige lost both her Mother and her husband, Scott, and dealt with immense challenges of single parenting with bravery, optimism, and more help from her even larger village. While Scotts passing left an immeasurable void, Paige carried his love with her every day. She has honored his memory by the way she continued to love and care for those around her and keeping his spirit alive through stories, traditions, and commitment to those countless lives they have touched together. Today, that enduring love lives on in Scotty, the precious remaining member of the family they built together. He carries with him the love and characteristics of both his mother and father, and he will never have to walk this journey alone. Paige and Scotts extraordinary circle of family, lifelong friends, neighbors, and loved ones stand committed to surround Scotty with the same unwavering love, encouragement and support that Paige and Scott so generously gave to others throughout their lives. "Love multiplies when it is shared." Paige lived this and cultivated her village that is so much like family. Friends became siblings, neighbors became lifelong companions, and every celebration, holiday, cookout, conversation and quiet moment together became another thread in the beautiful and enduring tapestry of her life. Her laughter could brighten the darkest day. Her hugs brought comfort without words. Her smile offered reassurance that somehow, everything would be okay. Paige gave freely of her time, her heart and her love without expecting anything in return. In 2023, Paige's health challenges began complicating her life with increasing frequency and severity. She faced them all with thoughtfulness, a deep love for life, and the help and compassion of her village that not only did she create, but because of her love, compassion, kindness for others, was created around her. The light she brought into the lives of so many will continue to shine through every person fortunate enough to know her. Paige was a woman who's greatest gift was her heart. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcomed, accepted, and loved. Whether you met her once, or had the privilege of knowing her for decades, you quickly became part of her family, her Village. Her friendships were lifelong bonds built on loyalty, compassion, laughter and unwavering support. Family was not only the one you were born into , but also the one you built through love, trust and shared memories. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the incredible woman she was. We honor her by caring for one another, by embracing Scotty with love, by sharing the stories that make us smile through our tears, and by living with the same grace, generosity, grit and compassion that defined Paige every single day.
