James J. Bertino, age 64 of Merrillville, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2014.
He was born in Gary on April 30, 1950 to the late James D. and Clementine Bertino. He is survived by his brother, Rev. Dominic Bertino of Hobart; sister, Margaret (William) Coulehan of Crown Point; aunt, Stella Sims of Hobart; several cousins.
Jim graduated from Holy Angels Cathedral grade school in 1965 and from Horace Mann High School in 1969. He studied Fire Science at Ivy Tech and was a volunteer with the Merrillville Fire Department from many years. He retired from Inland Steel Corp after 30 years of service and later worked at Sears in Southlake Mall.
