GREGORY DEAN VAN ETTEN Gregory Dean "V" Van Etten, 56, of Lenexa, KS, passed away Friday, June 30, 2017, from a heart attack. Greg was born Feb. 21, 1961, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Arnold and Catherine "Anne" (McKone) Van Etten. "V", as many lovingly referred to him, attended Hempstead High School and continued his education at Morningside College where he graduated with a business degree, was co-captain of the football team and a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Greg moved to Olathe, KS, after college and later started his own business, Labor Pros, which he owned and operated for over 20 years. He was an avid sports fan and one of his favorite pastime was cheering on his daughter, Vanessa, as she participated in various athletic activities. He sponsored and was a member of a competition BBQ team. He loved spending time with family and friends and was overjoyed by the birth of his grandson, Ellis. Greg touched the lives of many people with his smile, generosity, and sense of humor. He is survived by his daughter, Vanessa (Van Etten) Patton and son-in-law, Chris of Olathe, KS; grandson, Ellis Dean Patton of Olathe, KS; father, Arnold Van Etten of Dubuque, IA; two sisters, Julie Van Etten Davis of Hudson, WI, Jennifer Hammel and husband Dennis of Fairfield, IA; nephews, Griffin and Riley Hammel, Reason and Madison Davis; and niece, Olivia Hammel; and former spouse, Julie (Morgan) Hawkins of Olathe, KS. He is preceded in death by his mother, Catherine "Anne" Van Etten, and brother-in-law, Denny Davis. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 15, at Living Hope Church in Olathe, KS. Visitation begins at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:30 a.m. In addition, a Night of Remembrance for Greg will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at Derby Grange Golf and Recreation, 13079 Derby Grange Rd. in Dubuque, IA 52002. Jay Zepeski, age 57 of Roswell Georgia passed away on Wednesday June 7, 2017 after a graceful courageous battle with brain cancer.

Jay was born in Dubuque, Iowa and stayed there through high school. He then moved to Denver Colorado where he attended Colorado Mountain College earning a degree in Resort Management. Jay worked many years in Denver at the Fairmont Hotel as the Head Concierge and had the opportunity to meet many famous people along the way. He loved the Rocky Mountains and spent many a day with his first three children hiking and climbing in the mountains

Jay soon found a love of working with wood, a craft that was inspired by his father. He later began to build and design rustic furniture and décor. He was a skilled and respected craftsman/carpenter among the antique and flea market community. His work has been featured in many shows and is on display in several public places.

He had an incredible sense of humor and was loved by many. He was always available to lend a helping hand. He was a loving father to eight beautiful children who will always look up to him.

Jay was preceded in death by his father, Norman Zepeski. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 20 years Sondra, his mother Merry Zepeski, Brother Dave Zepeski (Kay), Sons Zachary Zepeski (Haley), Zach Mixdorf (Sommer) Nate Mixdorf, & Justin Mixdorf, Daughters Taylor Zepeski, Kaitlin VanSciver (Micah), Myra Mixdorf, & Ayla Mixdorf; and 5 grandchildren Mari, McKenzee, Madden, Cooper & Aria

Memorial Services will be held June 12, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints 5995 Spalding Drive, Norcross Ga 30092. Family receiving visitors 2:30pm to 3:15pm in the Relief Society Room. Memorial Service starts 3:30 pm.

For those not in Georgia and/or who would like to, there will be a Celebration of Life event July 15, 2017 in Dubuque Iowa at Happy's 2323 Rockdale Road Dubuque Iowa from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.

In lieu of flowers you may make a donation to St Jude's in his name for the kids with cancer. Jay had a passion for helping the kids at St Jude's

Scott R. Ries, 50, of 2123 Cheyenne Way, Dubuque died Wednesday October 5, 2011 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 8, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Steve Garner officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm Friday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 2659 Kennedy Road where there will be a parish wake service at 7:30 pm.

Scott was born August 5, 1961 in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Richard and Marjorie (Paisley) Ries. He graduated from Hempstead High School in 1979. On May 25, 1984 he married Benda Phillips in Dubuque.

Scott worked in the roofing industry for many years. He worked the past 15 years as a machinist at Dubuque Stamping and Manufacturing Co. and was a member of the UAW. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and he adored his two daughters.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Ries of Dubuque; two daughters, Paisley Ries of Chicago, Ill and Elizabeth Ries of Dubuque; his parents, Dick and Marge Ries of Dubuque; four siblings, Shawn (Kerri) Ries, Jill (Rick) Dodds, Dana (Rob) Bohr, and Tim (Alica) Ries, all of Dubuque; his father in law and mother in law, Bill and Norma Phillips of Dubuque; brother in law and sister in law, Bill and Linda Phillips; a sister in law and brother in law, Robyn and Terry Husdon; 17 nieces and nephews and countless friends.

THOMAS BALL The greatest husband, family man, friend and mentor in the world, Thomas Lee "T." Ball, 62, passed away unexpectedly Oct. 1, 2014. Tom was born in Dubuque, Iowa. He worked at the famous Roman Times with many wonderful people. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca; mother, Edith Ball; sisters, Kristine, Gayla and Stacey; brother, Steve; wonderful daughter, Gabriella Swearingen (Joey); grandchildren, Trey and Luke. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, with services following, both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
