Gerri was married to Willard Ryan (HHS '61). They had 3 children; Cathy, Gerri and John. In 1967 Willard was stationed with his army unit in Vietnam. He died in action later that year. Leaving Gerri as a single mother with little money to support her children. For several years she struggled with mental illness. In the end Geri died at Port Health Care in Newburyport after a long and courageous battle with colon cancer. The same disease that took her daughter Gerri's life sixteen years earlier.
