Colonel, Retired.
Completed last official duty assignment as Deputy Commander for Detachment 11 - Joint Munitions Command (JMC) under the Army Material Command – Army Reserve Element (AMC-ARE) of the Army Reserve Sustainment Command (ARSC).

Entered the Retired Reserves on 31 December 2011 with over 30 years of honorable service in the United States Army Reserve. Native of Wisconsin, receiving commission through ROTC in December 1981, after graduating with a BA in General Business with a Law Emphasis and a Military Science Minor from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater.

Privileged to have served in a variety of leadership and staff positions throughout entire Army career that includes 14+ years of Active Duty service. Service began in January 1982 on Active Duty with assignments to include: Combat Developments Staff Officer, Automotive Maintenance Platoon Leader, Company Training Officer, and Maintenance Control Officer at Fort Sill, Oklahoma; Chief of Track Vehicle Recovery Branch, Chief of Recovery and Systems Maintenance Division, and then Company Commander (B Company, 16th Ordnance Battalion) at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland; Assistant Plans and Policy Officer in the Republic of South Korea; and Armament New Equipment Training Officer at Rock Island Arsenal, IL.

In January 1994, was transitioned to the Active Reserves with assignments to include: Branch Chief of Weapons and Equipment Support Section under the 84th Division in Milwaukee, WI; Chief of Combat Service Support Lanes Team, Battalion S-3 of the 2-338th Regt; and Battalion Executive Officer, Battalion Commander of 2-411th Regt, to include a state side mobilization tour in 2003) under the 2nd Brigade, 85th Division at Fort McCoy, WI; Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, and Supply Officer under the G-4, 84th Division, Milwaukee, WI; and as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Materiel (G-4) of the 416th Theater Engineer Command in Darien, IL; Division Chief of Future Operations Section under the Multi-Functional Support Command at Rock Island Arsenal, IL; then serving an 1 year overseas mobilization tour as an Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) Strategic Planner (under the 401st Army Field Sustainment Brigade in Kuwait and then 402nd AFSB in Iraq). Upon returning home from Iraq, COL Buehler assumed leadership of Detachment 11 – JMC in January 2010 at Rock Island, IL.

COL Buehler’s military education includes the Ordnance Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Combined Arms Service Staff School, and the Army Command and General Staff College.

COL Buehler’s awards and decorations include: Bronze Star Medal (Meritorious Service), Meritorious Service Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Achievement Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (3 Oak Leaf Clusters), National Defense Service Medal (1 Bronze Service Star), Iraq Campaign Medal (1 Campaign Star), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal (with Gold Hourglass and 2M Device), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon, and the Army Superior Unit Award.

COL Buehler is a Distinguished Graduate of the Air Assault School at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, a Life Member of the Ordnance Corps Association and a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is a 2009 inductee of the Ordnance Order of Samuel Sharpe.

Currently serving as Post Commander, VFW Post 1393, West Bend, WI and as Senior Vice Commander of the VFW Wisconsin 6th District.
