I move away in the early 80s to the San Francisco Bay Area I used to visit their home quite often. Charles, John, Monica and Edward were always kind to me. Charles, Herk by nick name and I work together at at Chasen's later name Joe Theismanns's restaurant in Camp Springs Maryland across the street from the Hanger club. Herk and I vacation together at Nags Head North Carolina one summer. My condolences to his surviving family. Tim Davis

More info on Charles at Kalas Funeral Home
Do you have any more pictures of Herky?

John's former home rents for over $3,000 a month. Do not know how the family in the house behind it are paying. Entire property is listed with the county using the address of the little house not the big house for TAX purposes.

Al and Kathy are still married and living in CA; 2 boys.

Joe and Mary Ann are still married. Herky was the best man at their wedding. Two boys and 1 girl who is an engineer. Several grandchildren. Joe's mother is still in the same house on Taylor Avenue. Mary Ann's stepfather in assisted living now. Joe has nothing to do with his twin brother, Jeff. I do not even ask Joe about Jeff.

Hope you had a great Veteran's Day.
I hope some how I can get you a short video of Herky. I recall Jeff wrote me a bad check for $20. Back in the 80s.

My brother Charles Herman Ricketts had developed diabetes's, it was inherited from the German side of his family, as was the heart disease. Our Oma, Elsa Gassner had had several heart attacks. Both of his uncles, Hermann Gassner, and Edfried Hans Gassner died from heart attacks in 2025. His brother, John Ricketts died from a heart attack on January 7. 2019.
His father's mother, Mary Carmon Ricketts (nee Griffith) was born on an Indian Reservation in Sallisaw, OK. So, he also had American Indian in his genes, probably Cherokee. She died from TB. His grandfather, Fred Ricketts, died from a heart attack while working the railroad tracks in Pittsburg, KS.
