Alumni Stories
Krisanna Spinato
Class of 2003
Since graduation, I have been forced to live on my own since my 18th birthday with no support from anyone. Struggling to make ends meet, survive and have a place to live. Thanks to friends (who have become my family), this had remained possible while living in the state of Pennsylvania. Shortly after my 18th birthday, my mom took off and moved to Las Vegas, with no word about it at all... leaving me alone and completely stranded. Within one year I got pregnant with my daughter Autumn.
Shortly after I found out I was pregnant, I thought perhaps an Open Adoption would be the best choice for me. After a lot of research I chose a family in Walnut Creek, Ca (San Francisco East Bay) and that is where I decided to relocate and start over. After thuoroughly checking them out, I came to find they weren't the family I wanted to raise my daughter, and nobody probably would be. I took on one of the hardest missions possible. To become a single 19 year old mother living in the second most expensive city in the US - San Francisco...
Since, my daughter is now 13 months old, I have finally gotten my own Brand new 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment, attending school full time working towards my degree as a Physician's Assistant in Pediatrics and working part time as a Nanny. I feel I have done one of the best and most rewarding accomplishments from my entire life at such an early age! -- Anything!! I mean Anything, is possible!
