Began service with the Army. He was stationed in several locations in the United States. He also served in Thailand and Viet Nam. He was married nine days before he went to Viet Nam. He got out in 1966. Then, six years later he joined the Air Force. He began as a household goods inspector and was in charge of booking travel for military and their families. Then he became a Logistics Planner and orchestrated movement of troops and planes all over the country and the world. His "claim to fame" is that he was the NCOIC who was in charge of planning and executing the movement of NASA equipment and personnel to White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico when the space shuttle had to land there due to bad weather on both coasts. He retired from the Air Force in 1989 after 20 years of service.
