David Jason Elliott (44) of Alexander, NC died Sunday, February 18, 2024, at Mission Hospital in Asheville of a heart attack. He is survived by his parents Eddie and Marcia Elliott, also of Alexander. In addition, he is survived by two brothers, Doug (Becky) of Arden and Daniel (Lori) of Raleigh; three nephews, Patrick, James, and Anthony; two nieces, Patricia and Grace; and two special friends, Roberta Gaulding and Matthew Robinson.
After graduation from Erwin High School, David enlisted in the U.S. Marines, stationed primarily in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, where he served on training missions in several Asian countries, including his favorite Australia. He started college classes after leaving the Marines, but enlisted in the U.S. Army following the 9-11 terrorist attack. He trained as a Green Beret, doing two tours in Afghanistan. After leaving the Army, he continued his college work, graduating from East Tennessee State with a major in mathematics.
Per David’s request, his body will be cremated and his ashes scattered on the family farm. Services have been provided by Asheville Mortuary.
