Steven Charles Mapes, 61, peacefully passed away on February 12, 2025 in his home in Amherst NY after a long battle of the 'big C' (cancer).
Steven was born on April 8th 1963 to late Carl Mapes and late Janette Mapes (nee Wilson) in Evanston, Illinois.
After graduating from Clarence Central High School in 1981, he immediately got into telecommunications, kick-starting his career in the field for what was the next 40+ years of his life. The last 15 years of his career, he was the Director of Operations at Spectrum. Steven was an avid sports fan. He loved watching Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres games.
While we lost our most beloved dad and brother, many have lost a friend and loved one in him. He has been a rock to many, and even a glorious pain in the neck to what I'm sure is a small select few (because no matter what happened between you in your lives, once you were marked as important to him, he'd be by your side if you needed him).
Steven was predeceased by Janette Mapes (nee Wilson), Carl Mapes, and Gail Mapes. He is survived by his daughter Mariah Reph; his brothers Richard Mapes, Wilson Mapes, and Richard Romanek; and his sister in law Liz Romanek.
Per his request, no services will be scheduled. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Steven's name to Hospice Buffalo at www.hospicebuffalo.com.
