The Bourne Historical Society’s annual meeting and election of officers was held recently at Crain Hall, Bourne village.
The new officer slate includes President Galon "Skip" Barlow, Past President Judith Riodan-MacKenzie, First Vice-president Diane Flynn, Second Vice-president Michael Eden, Assistant Clerk Mary Ellen Curren, Treasurer Judith Flynn, Assistant Treasurer Fran Bogden and trustees: Richard Anderson (2016), Diane Costa (2016), Mary Beth Ellis (2017), Paul Girard (2017), Robert W. Nelson (2017) and Edward "Ted" Ellis (2018).
Honored during the meeting was retired BHS executive director Judith MacAlister of Pocasset for her 15 years of service as society director and volunteer.
Mary Beth Ellis presented MacAlister with the Tree of Life - created by Pairpoint Glass Co. - in her honor as well as flowers and words of appreciation from the group.
Selectman Donald Ellis presented MacAlister with a proclamation from Bourne selectmen for her many years of service.
During the Volunteer Recognition and Luncheon, Edward "Ted" Ellis was presented the Volunteer of the Year "Honey Jar" by Gioia Dimock of Bourne village, last year’s volunteer. Ellis was unsuspecting and honored. The jar was full of thoughts and reasons as to why he is the “Volunteer of the Year.”
Homemade, prize winning quahog chowder was served by its maker and new BHS board member Paul Girard.
Sandwiches and desserts were provided by Elizabeth Ellis of Sagamore and Laurie York of Cataumet.
